Free Credit Report?

If my credit is so important and it means life or death here in the US....why the hell do I have to pay to see it, does this not bother anyone else?
Why cant I look at it daily, for free, its mine isnt it?

You can actually get it 3 times a year for free at annualcreditreport.com

You can get one for free from 3 different sources each year. So I look at one source every 4 months.

yeah I think it is only re-calculated every quarter so it wouldn't matter if you looked at it more than that anyway.

However each one does it a little different and has different scoring scales. But still, they give you the same basic info.

oh, and you have to pay for you actual score....otherwise you just get a report without a score.

the companies that process the reports charge the site you are using to look at it....but you can look at it free 3 times a year I believe

you cannot get your credit score on this sites for free...I believe the only place you can get your score for free is through the gov't

I don't have much debt, but I was surprised to see my score is in the mid 700s...

That's a good option. You can only do it one time per social security number. I checked mine back in 2006 so it shows my old credit score. You have to pay to have it updated after the first time.
