Heart problems

So I've been going through quite a bit of stress lately and I've been noticing things about my heart I'm not used to. First off I gotta say I DO have heart problem. I've been through 2 cathedirizations and 2 surgeries (one when I was about 1 or 2 and the other when I was 14). My heart is basically flipped on the oppisite side and what normally pumps to my body is reversed with what pumps to my lungs. I was also missing a pulminary valve until I got one put in from my 2nd surgery. I get checked up every few months, and lately I have been getting checked up on later and later (every 6 months)because my heart has been doing very well.

Recently a friend of a friend died of a heart failure out of the blue, and I have been learning about heart disease in my college health class. Ever since then I have been noticing that my heart is beating harder and sometimes feeling slight chest pains. It has also been palpitating more. When I lay down I hear my heart beating, something I'm not used to. Last night I barely slept because that was all that was on my mind. I think its really just stress and added awareness but It has really been upsetting me. I plan on seeing my heart doctor this week but I'd like to here some input.

My parents are also going through a divorce, my dad is making less money because of the economy, and I will be moving into my grandmas house soon. All things I do not want to deal with.

Oh and this past summer I have been smoking quite a bit of weed, but I stopped about 2 weeks ago when I began noticing these things. I have no urge for weed anymore, Im not fucking with my heart AT ALL. Although I had a doctor checkup during the time I had been smoking alot of weed and my doctor said my heart is doing good. Whether or not weed affected my heart, im not doing it either way anymore.

You think I'm over reacting? Is this just all stress/ anxiety related?

  • Smoking anything should be out for the most part. Here and there fine...a regular habit...not a good idea. Your cardiovascular system is all tied together and interconnected.

I'd also be looking at your diet, and hardening of the arteries, it's all going to put stress there. I've been reading oral hygiene plays into how happy the heart stays.

I'd exercise moderately to strengthen this part of your body with sound nutrition backing the process as a lifelong habit. You're looking at some lifestyle changes by default, but good ones that will make you look and feel great, things everyone should be doing anyway.

not being a doctor I would still venture a guess and say yes. The cumulative affect of the stress, changes in the works, and the knowledge gained in your course work ARE probably contributing to what you are experiencing.

That being said , to err on the side of caution and get the straight dope (no pun intended) from your Doc. is the smartest move.

I'd for sure ask your doctor and keep checking with him/her, but I'm sure stress and anxiety are playing a part. Be sure and drink lots of water, and exercise, which does relieve stress. :)

  • Get some omega 3 capsules, down a couple here, couple there, throughout the day...also oranges, broccoli (if you can get the seeds and sprout them...i..e brocolli sprouts...way better...like 50 times better (phenomenal level of sulphides), spinach, coca powder (fantastic levels of reservatrols) mixed with organic soy milk with a dash of sugar is also excellent, and eat more garlic.

    work em all in gradually...
