As Yankee Stadium closes this year what's YOUR favorite memory from Yankee Stadium.

For me the Red Sox comeback from 3 games down and beating them there to win the series and move forward to the World Series. Which they won against the Cardinals. So sweet. :)

Also when the Yankees came back to win 3 straight games in 2001 against Arizona Diamondbacks. The Yankees did go on to lose the series though.

What's yours?

Peace

I saw only one game at Yankee Stadium...
Saturday, September 20, 2008 - vs. Tampa Bay Rays

Game was rained out on Friday night so I came back on Saturday. I sat down in the bleachers and was just starting to take in the game. I can't remember who made the play but all of a sudden "Betterman" was playing over the loud speakers. Yankee Stadium rocks.

    And the Yankees won!

dude, I agree. I hate the Yankees ("Yankees SUCK!!!") but I love to hate them. Post season kind of isn't post season without them. Kind of like Bruins v. Montreal. I'll miss the rivalry and hopefully the Sox won't go in the first series.

Back to the thread.... :( sadly, I've never been to Yankee Stadium so I do not have a memory from being at a game there. But I'm with you on the come from being down three games to win the series against them there.
believe it or not, we don't "need" anything. that is only the spoiled brat in us trying to fill some temporary solution to an emptyness that does not exist.

I'm proud to say I was there once ... Sox lost, but, I was there ... :)

Ok, here's a shock ... I can now look back fondly at Dave Righetti's July 4th no hitter vs the Sox, as he struck out Wade BOggs to end it ... I fucking hate Wade Boggs ... so, to see him look horrible everytime I watch that highlight is worth it ....

Some other great memories off the top of my head ...

2004 ALCS (coming off the 2003 heartbreak)

Jeter diving into the crowd face first with the heart of a champion ... while Nomar sulked on the bench ....

George Brett FREAKING OUT - pine tar game

Jim Rice going into the crowd willing to fight fans over his stolen hat ... (giggle)

  • My favorite is October 31-November 1, 2001. What an awesome game that was!

My least favorite would be when Wells threw the perfect game against the Twins.
No longer overwhelmed it seems so simple now.

the 1st time I walked into a Yankee game was like 88 I think. I was a teenager and snuck there with my boys and as bad as we sucked it was such a feeling to be in there and hear the fans, the smell and everything about it. I'll never forget that. And obviously getting one last chance a few weeks ago to catch a few games.
Aah, fuck it, I’m just gonna go home, turn on the fuckin’ TV...
Watch the nightly news and drink a beer...
Like I could even change the world, yeah right...

That's actually not true at all. They're tearing down the entire stadium piece by piece instead of using explosives. It will be a long process but they're going to be putting up a park on the old site. I'm not sure where you got the info that they're leaving the rest of the stadium in place.

That's what I thought too that they were tearing the stadium and building a park in it's place. Rightfully so considering how they have tear up a park to build this new stadium leaving the surronuding community without a place to play near by.
