Brown Bread Or White Bread?

I've now visited several friend's homes and they ALL eat white bread. I like wheat bread and that's ALL I've ever eaten. I took a closer look and I find myself using brown sugar and ocasionally eating brown rice.

Nutritionist say wheat bread, brown sugar and brown rice are better for you because it's not refined or the nutriants aren't bleached out.

What do you say?

    For sandwiches I like seeded/multi-grain bread, but when toasted the seeds get burnt and it's rubbish. So I use white bread for toast.

    did you mean brown bread, brown rice and brown sugar?

    we always eat brown, multi grain or whole wheat...

    White bread for taste, brown bread if I actually feel like being good to myself. Which is rare.

    Brown bread tastes like pavement.

    white sandwich bread sucks. bad taste, bad texture. White rolls can be good.

    Brown although we rarely get it. But for a bacon buttie it's gotta be white.

    Alot of wheat breads are just as bad as white bread.....you gotta get 100% whole wheat.

    I like really dark bread the best - white bread reminds me of cotton - gag :p

    I couldn't disagree with you more. White bread has little taste. Whole wheat on the other hand is PACKED with taste.

    I eat wheat bread pretty exclusively.

    wheat bread produces a better BM than white bread.

    This is true, it's all in the fibers which ALWAYS us to eliminate. I told my patient while we chilled at the beach "you gotta eat your oat meal it helps with your BM's". He agreed wholeheartedly. :)

    Also when I said brown bread, I used that word in describing wheat or 100% whole wheat bread.

    If I buy bread, it will be whole grain. But, I don't keep bread, pasta or potatoes in the house, so it doesn't really matter. I do remember recently one of my kids, I think the 11 year old, saying something about white bread. Like one of her friends was eating white bread, and she wrinkled her nose. :D As if it was something gross. God, she's different than me when I was that age. I was raised on brown bread and organic eggs and hated - hated - both of them.
    I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.

    I buy whole wheat, whole grain and anything else that isn't white bread.

    I've been able to keep white bread out of my house even though my kids try to sneak it into the grocery cart and ask "why can't we have this bread, it is so good!". Yea...thanks to my lovely mother-in-law who introduced white bread to them a couple years ago when she found out that they never had it. :rolleyes:

    However, yeah......wheat bread is all I will use if I have a sandwich....unless white bread is all the person has. white bread bleaches out all the nutrients and is just bland and tasteless anyways.

    100% whole wheat for us for everyday use. We do occasionally buy french bread made out of white flour though, which is good with olive oil.

    Hey Senrock when I started this thread I wondered if anyone would look at this subject matter in that light. However you made laughter out of it and that's the best way. It's always easier to smile than to frown. :)

    White bread is garbage. I eat wheat, and even then I make sure it's healthy and not just labeled wheat to look healthy.
