A Efing Nightmare of a Day!

I wasn't sure if I wanted to post this but what the hell. Four days from my birthday and I run into this day from hell.

It started out a beautiful calm day here in Palm Beach, FL. My boss wanted to go fishing and since it looked like a great so we did.

We start out on calm seas and bright sunshine perfect for fishing. On our first cast and a hurricane of a storm hits and hits us hard. These guys down here must be used to this shit cause we stayed out there with lightening all around.

That 75ft boat was tossed about like the fucking SS. Minnow of Gilligan Island. My boss and I got sick, I did fish and caught 9. We get back to the dock and I couldn't get my fishes while a monsoon starts up. On the way back my partner calls and her car is broken down in the middle of a busy highway while in this frigging monsoon.

I leave work get there, she's sick but I jump the car and get it rolling. We drop it off to her mechanic then head home. We get there we had to cancel a church services meeting then one of them gets stuck on the grass. I get the car out not before falling face fucking first in the mud.

Then in all the kaos she leaves the keys to house at the mechanic and I left mine at work. All while this fucking monsoon continues, I'm soaking wet I drive back 12 miles to get the keys.

What is the deal with the rain down here, It rains sideways. Now while I'm writing this mosquitos or something is biting me, It's over FINALLY and I need a smoke.

Peace

Last year this time was drought ridden and this year all rain and nothing but rain. There was more to the nightmare day but too messy to get into.

I don't think I've EVER had a continous day that was so bad. Today is bright sunshine, only indication we had a monsoon is ALL these small lakes everywhere. That's funny the automatic sprinklers just turned, I need to laugh about something.

that's the way it is in South Fla b/c you get tropical type weather. My mother lives down there, she was telling me about the rain also. It rains really hard and you get thunder and lightning sometimes, and then it clears up. It's very strange esp. if you come into that from up North. I was caught in one of those storms last summer when I was down there and I had to pull over in a parking lot and wait for it to let up. The roads flood and it's really bad out there, you can't even see to drive

and Oh God, I can't imagine being out in a boat in that weather. indeed. I'm glad you are ok! :)

I couldn't believe that 75ft boat could get tossed about like that but that just shows the power of the ocean and it's mysteries. Oh and i grew up in Boston NYC and Washington DC and I'm just not used to this weather, still haven't made through the summers down here yet.

I asked my boss if yesterday's events scared him off he said nope I ready to go next week.

I could never get used to it. The summer is the worst. It's unbearably hot and humid. You can't stay outside for long periods of time. Oh and then every now and again, you get the risk of Hurricanes
although that happens up here too. We went through Hurricane Gloria when I was little. They told us to evacuate b/c we lived on the water but in the hotel we went to, a part of the ceiling fell out! Fortunately nothing happened to our house.

I'm considering moving down here in a few years and only once have I experienced the summer weather. I thought I had landed in the fricking Sahara Dessert, I thought I was going to die. Worst I came to South Florida for a funeral. The odd thing I lived my early years til 10 in Jamaica. However winter and growing up Boston had me fall for winter's grace.

BTW wasn't that hurricane Gloria in the mid 80's sometime, my memory is blurred but I feel I have a connection to that storm?

I had to Google it-It was in 1985.

Sahara Desert? Isn't a desert dry? That heat in S.Fla. is humid!

I used to go down there every year to visit my Grandmother when I was little but I think we went in the winter time when it is usually nice.

I was down there last summer. ..

I'm here from Dec-May and the weather is I must say absolutely beautiful. I'm here in Palm Beach, I get to see the Red Sox in Spring Training and the weather is sweet.
However that summer visit hit hard as far as hot it was to me. It was just something totally unbearable to me. I thought I could cook an egg on the pavement or pass out.

Indeed, it's like walking out into an oven. It does feel like you're going to pass out

my mother lives outside of Ft. Lauderdale.

seeing the Sox of course doesn't interest me :p the beaches are gorgeous down there. I am a South Beach fan as well.
