As far as I'm concerned, not having a refund...or ideally breaking even is the ideal way to go. Giving the government an interest-free loan isn't really the best idea.

Remember this...they won't do it for you!

Refunds are nice, but Uncle Sam is a fucker who looks out for his own interest!

well, i'm severely in debt right now so any money coming in instead of going out is sweet for me at the moment.

this expert on the news was saying how broke everyone is now, yet they have internet access and cell phones

    :)

she said we don't need it/them!

I felt horrible before when I drove to work when I forgot my cell phone and then I remembered the "old days" when they did not exist and I was fine.

The point is that you change your withholding so that you're keeping the money in your pocket throughout the year and not having to wait for the government to give it back to you at the end of a year.

I had a big refund last year and changed my withholdings to 4 (I'm single for now). It added about $150 per paycheck.

I haven't had a cellphone for almost 2 years now. I just got tired of the whole deal. Really, if I need to talk to someone, i can either do it face-to-face or e-mail. I do have a home line with an answering machine, but honestly have no need to text people 5,000 times an hour or have the latest ringtone or any other bullshit involving cells. However, last summer my car ran out of gas and I had to walk about 7 miles back to my house. So 1 time in 2 years a cellphone would have done me some good.

they said the refunds would take longer this year. Mine took about month. If you go to IRS.gov and click in the where's my refund it should sat when it will be mailed.

I was wondering where mine was too, since I'm also getting $ back.. and found this on the IRS website. It was sooo convenient - so unlike the IRS!

    http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96596,00.html

To get to your personal refund information, be ready to enter your:

    *
Social Security Number (or IRS Individual Taxpayer Identification Number)
    *
Filing status (Single, Married Filing Joint Return, Married Filing Separate Return, Head of Household, or Qualifying Widow(er))
    *
Exact refund amount shown on your return

If you don’t receive your refund within 28 days from the original IRS mailing date shown on Where’s My Refund?, you can start a refund trace online.
If Where’s My Refund? shows that IRS was unable to deliver your refund, you can change your address online.
