It's nice to know the diverse of the fan base here, especially on a more personal level (however close you can get to know through the Internet, lol). :p

I just hope they are as genuine about themselves as I am to them about me.

ha! :D Can't help you with the whys and wherefores on that one. :)

I share messages and conversations and email and snail mail and instant messaging and phone calls and occasionally dinner and drinks or a nice trip to a gallery or somethin, with a lot of people from here, male and female and they all started off with humble little private messages. Well except for my family! :D And I'll be meeting a few more of them soon enough. Friends I've not met in person yet.

Oh and Stel, I agree with you up to a point, but I reckon I've met some really ridgey didge folks here that are fabulous friends, the fact we haven't met in person yet is only a minor detail. I always remember living with my fiance for 4 years, day in, day out and then waking up one day and finally finding out who he really was. So even peeps right under your nose can be utter bastards if they're so inclined. The fact that you see them everyday as opposed to just communicating via the net, doesn't really change the fact they're a-holes or not. It's really about the individual I think. But I understand what you're saying, particularly given recent events. :)

I've fantasized about a Pearl Jam society a few times like a gated community full of PJ fan residents.

I've brainstorm sceneries with members here in a Sims-like setting/lifestyle at their neighborhoods and such. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_sims

:o I doubt we've life in harmony with all different personalities.

    Yeah, I know what you're all thinking....

But I do have a wicked odd vivid imagination...I think it's from all the drugs I've done in my youth.

:D Well you could count me out mate, gated community isn't really my thing and besides not all my friends are PJ fans, not to mention I'm the only one in my family, well I've managed to indoctrinate Mum a little but Dad's just not buying it.

Considering just how different some of us are though I reckon we all get along ok for the most part. Bound to be bad days and personalities that clash, it's just one of those things really. :)

I think you've drawn on an already existing parallel.

This is definitely a community and sometimes it does seem gated.

Doesn't qualify as Hotel California though. :D

Haha, yeah none of family, relatives or friends actually understand this obsession I have about the band. Some like a certain song here and there but it's just songs to them, nothing much for them to evaluate about. :p

Well, you're right1 it is in a way, a little community- however, not gated. And I didn't mean gated to where we're entrapped to only Pearl Jam music and their fans. that would just be silly and scary too.

True, you don't know. Someone who seems sweet and great could turn out to be a MAJOR dillhole who just plays games and isn't very nice. :(

But I do think PMs are fun. :D It is always great getting to know PJ fans whether it is through PMs, msn, or at a PJ show! :D

My brother likes Ten, that's about it. And I know he's totally fed up with me being so excited by them still, but he was pretty excited when he managed to score tix for me online last time and I was leaping around like a maniac! :D Actually I was lucky enough that I had a spare tix for the Melbourne 3 in 06 and I got to take Mum and she was blown away. That made me very happy. :) She often asks me to put them on when she's home now. I think I've managed a convert. But Dad, well, I pretty much give up! Well.....not quite but yeah, I'm not doing so good with him, which disappoints me, but what can you do?

I think you're right though LongRd, perhaps we are a little like the Sims, except that we're all real people, but yeah, gated, well I'm not a fan of walls or fences or gates. I like people being free to come and go as they please. :)

I agree and unfortunately I had a experience where the person's online persona and real life persona were totally different and not for the best. Someone a while back told me that they are friends with someone and they know them "real good" but they never actually met..I was skeptical

But saying that I have to say a lot of people on here seem genuinely nice..people just need to be careful is all.
