    Thank god.

But seriously it hasn't been that bad this year after football season because the NBA is actually entertaining for the first time since Jordan left.

But can't wait for me some for me baseball, word.

In Baltimore we refer to baseball season as April-May. This year however...first two weeks of April should be about it. Come on Ravens training camp!

    Hell yes!

Although the Celtics are actually good for a change this year, so I can't completely put the NBA behind me. But yeah, my sport religion has officially begun.

Finally, the league talent has caught up to all the expansion that went on in the 90's! Pitching is more abundant, and almost every team has a young player on the verge of a major breakout. We're seeing a golden age in baseball.
You are just a negative mindless pud.

That's the reason they are my favorite team and I've lived in WI my whole life. Brewers will fall short again this year, haha!! Going to Opening Day at Wrigley for the 6th straight year, can't wait. As for WGN, sadly they cut back the number of games. Last year it was 72 on WGN and 72 on CSN (Comcast Sports Net). This year its only 64 on WGN compared to 80 on CSN. The reason being the Cubs get twice as much money for their games that are on CSN. Sadly I think a few years down the road we may not get games on WGN. It would be a true shame as the Cubs would start to lose their national fan base. That being said, GO CUBS GO!!!!

Amen to that. I live in Pittsburgh where a small (but loud) percentage of the population believes there is no economic equality, and "poor" teams like the Pirates will always be stuck at the bottom. I enjoy arguing with these people, pointing out the facts that prove there is an abundance of competitive balance in the sport, and the Pirates suck because of crappy ownership.

The fact that the Pirates haven't had a decent season since I was a teenager (I'm approaching thirty now) doesn't hurt my love for the national pastime one iota. This year, the wife and I are checking out the Nationals new ballpark, Citizens Bank Park, the cool minor league park in Harrisburg, and a few Pirate games as well. And I'll spend the rest of my time watching games on ESPNHD and playing MLB2k on the 360. God, I love baseball !!!!!

Baseball-loving Pirates fan here, too. Unfortunately, our club is just absolutely awful...but at least they did absolutely nothing to improve on last season's record. I'm just glad Dave Littlebrain is out of the front office. I'll be out in PGH in early June to cover some Frontier League baseball in Little WashPa. I'm going to visit my family in the Houston/Canonsburg/Meadowlands area and check out one of the Buccos' games with the Nationals. I've never been to PNC. I can't wait! Heck, PGH might even be able to win a game against the Nats. But, in the end, our guys are going to tie the Philthies for most consecutive losing seasons in modern major league sports. Hooooooo-raaaaaayyyy!!!!

the Royals have improved talent, however, I am afraid that the Central Division is too tough to hope for much more than 4th place, even with an above .500 record.

don't care, I root for the home team and I love my Royals!!!

    PLAY BALL!!!
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

I'll go ahead and post my season predictions here since we're just several hours away from the first game. This is mostly for my own amusement to see how close I can get ;)

    AL East

    1. Boston Red Sox
    2. New York Yankees
    3. Tampa Bay Rays
    4. Toronto Blue Jays
    5. Baltimore Orioles

    AL Central

    1. Detroit Tigers
    2. Cleveland Indians *(wild card)
    3. Minnesota Twins
    4. Chicago White Sox
    5. Kansas City Royals

    AL West

    1. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
    2. Seattle Mariners
    3. Texas Rangers
    4. Oakland Athletics

    NL East

    1. New York Mets
    2. Philadelphia Phillies *(wild card)
    3. Atlanta Braves
    4. Washington Nationals
    5. Florida Marlins

    NL Central

    1. Chicago Cubs
    2. Milwaukee Brewers
    3. Houston Astros
    4. Cincinatti Reds
    5. St Louis Cardinals
    6. Pittsburgh Pirates

    NL West

    1. Los Angeles Dodgers
    2. Colorado Rockies
    3. Arizona Diamondbacks
    4. San Diego Padres
    5. San Francisco Giants

Worst record in AL- Baltimore Orioles
Worst record in NL- San Francisco Giants

    World Series:
Boston Red Sox over New York Mets

Okay, I just wanted to throw it out there that the NL West is a complete crapshoot. I could have put the Padres anywhere from 1st to 4th, and I would say the same about any team not located in San Francisco. That race should be fun to watch.
