Now that this film is dvd ive been able to watch it again and somethings been bothering me.
Gordans Fake Death
I'm wondering what purpose does this ultimately serve the plot of the movie? It seems like an unnecesary twist that has no real impact on the plot. I read that its an homage to the comics, and gordan says he did it to protect his family, but the logistics of how it happens in the movie are kind of confusing and I don't think it was as successful a device as the filmmakers intended it to be.
Thoughts? Incites?

i think gordon figured if he stuck around the joker would target his family, like how he went after dent and rachel. so by pretending to be dead joker never made plans to hook gordon's family up to millions of drums of gasoline. cause by the time gordon revealed himself jokers plans were well underway.0
