I can't believe I can't find any Detroit Tigers topics on this board. What an amazing team. I'm proud to have been a fan before 2006. And the Cabrera trade makes life sweeter :)

  • what do you think about what they gave up? I'd especially like to know more about the prospects, as I know about Miller and Maybin (Who both look like they're gonna be outstanding ballplayers)

It sucks that we lost Miller. He's going to be a special talent. But Cabrera is what we HOPED for Maybin to be. Cabrera is only 24 years old, so we couldn't ask for it any better.
  • worried about any Tigers being on the list tommorrow? Obviously Sheffield will be, and Pudge (The Incredible Shring catcher) is an obvious guess.

    i'm a white sox fan.

pudge obviously shrunk over the last 4 years, but he's still in the top 10 of catchers. sheffield admited he took the clear...

any way you look at it, the tigers are clearly the favorite to win the world series. they have the pitching...and they have the offence. shit, their 7 hitter would bat clean-up for most teams.

doesn't matter that kenny williams' failed to do anything significant this year...though the tribe are good and even with the twins probably sending santana to boston...all of that is moot b/c the tigers are soooo good.
  • I heard that the White Sox desperately wanted Rowand, but he had no interest due to hard feelings. Any truth to that?

not due to hard feelings...due to the white sox not wanting to give 5 years.
  • big difference. It was a blurb in one of the Sunday papers, so I wasn' sure if there was any truth to it

I just hope pitching holds up
  • Well, I'm a Pirates fan, so life will just about suck for us in 2008 the way it did every year from 1993-2007.

But I do pull for the Tigers a lot. First, my wife and I went to a game in May (the afternoon game when they crushed the Angels) and had the best time we've ever had traveling to a ballpark. Second, you guys have a lot of my favorite players (or ex players) Leyland, VanSlyke, Maggs, (is Sean "the Mayor" Casey still there?) plus a host of others.

Since my Buccos are never gonna win again, I'd like to see Detroit in 08
    I love my female wife...
we sit around and wonder exactly why our marriage should feel threatened by gay marriage
  • GO RED SOX!

You guys are gonna get your ASSES HANDed to ya when you come to fenway in april!
I will be what i could be

The loss of Miller is a little tough, although my friends and family didn't think too much of him. I however agree with most of the papers and say that Miller will probably pitch better than Willis THIS year.

Maybin, I'm not to sure. They were going to have Maybin centerfield and move Granderson to left, so i'm glad that with Maybin gone Granderson will stay in center.

Really, the majority of the trade Detroit had to give up was worth it alone for Cabrera, but to also get Willis is an added bonus. Plus his windup is cool. :D

Ok, thats insane. No he won't. Dontrelle is a proven All-Star and almost won a Cy Young. Miller has yet to pitch a full season, has inconsistency problems, and has major mechanic issues.

I have been a Tigers fan all my life. I don't think they'll be any better than last year. Their bullpen is thin and didn't improve over the offseason -- it was a liability all of '07. I will watch every game I can (just like every other year), but maybe it's just the masochistic nature in me (lifetime Lions fan too) but I liked it better when the Tigs were underdogs!

Nah Casey is in Boston now. I liked him in Detroit and I've said before, Boston will like him. In Detroit his up to bat music he picked was Even Flow :)

I agree that the bullpen has me scared a bit, but I think the team is relying on outhitting the other team. Does that scare me and sound risky? Definitely. But the pitching always seem to be able to do just enough while Polanco gets that crucial single and is still overlooked and then the Tigers win. :) Ah, bring on Baseball, the summer, and a Tigers ALCS/WS victory!

As in the 119 loss Tigers?

Personally i can't wait for the season to start. It's going to be tough being out on the east coast now and working till midnight 4 nights a week but it's definitely going to be a fun ride.

Also can't wait to go watch the Tigs kick ass in Fenway and Yankee stadium in a month :D
