and the Pirates are in midseason form, dropping two straight to one of the three teams in MLB with a lower payroll than their own. Florida spent $21 million to win the series; PGH spent $51 million to drop a pair. Pathetic. Just goes to show that money isn't the end-all, be-all when it comes to winning.

And...the death march watch has begun for the Post Gazette's Pirates beat writer Dejan Kovacevic:

"And the Pirates' record now stands at 2-3, the first time below .500.

Will they see it again?"

Damn, they might not see it again :(

Buccos got crushed, 11-2, by the Dodgers on Tuesday. Not that big of a deal since they had won four straight. Then I read this nugget from the April 16th Post-Gazette' and Pirate fandom came right back into focus.

"Lost in the process was a chance at a seriously modest milestone: If the Pirates had improved to 8-6, it would have marked the latest in a season they had been two games over .500 since April 16, 2003, when they were ... 8-6."

    Wow, that's pathetic.

Yes, very pathetic but I still love the Buccos. Mclouth is having an outstanding start to the season. Atleast we have the Penguins and Steelers though.

Unfortunately it's impossible to watch Pens games where I live. We don't have VS on our cable system.
