Jim Rome today announced the 2008 Smack Off! will be on April 25th. Sure, it's more than two months away, but it's never too early to start beating the drum. Five-time champion Shaun "The Cablinasian" won't be invited because he has a competing radio show on another network. Looks like it's wide open. J.D. ("Shamon: The Chad in Portland Song) got an invite despite only making one classic call.

War the Smack Off!

Is this some kind of mass "self-pleasuring"?

Yep. Three hours a day, Monday thru Friday on the AM dial.

Wow...this brings me back. It's probably been about 5 years since I last heard The Jungle. One of my favorite moments was when a Mets middle infielder (Carlos Baerga?) got a haircut between innings and Rome had to correct all the Steve Garvey e-mailers that he was getting "a" trim.

That's great. One of the legendary Jungle blasts is "Steve Garvey pumping chicks." Oh, and you should get a different job. Five years is too long to live outside The Jungle.

  • I personally like the guy that does amputee smack.
    one foot in the door
the other foot in the gutter
    sweet smell that they adore
    I think I'd rather smother

The Smack Off is one week away. I think Orrin in Denver might have a shot this year. The fact that Bodie in Neck Land got in will be good enough for at least one minute of smack. Maybe Vic in No Call will make it in this year. "Mr. Wednesday" called his shot last year then never showed.

The amputee smack guy is Greg in Vegas.

I really need to get a life.

Vic in No-Cal called his shot today and, surprise!, it's Wednesday. He said he'd go wire-to-wire. Good luck with that. Today's show was absolutely hilarious.

    Its not Ryan it's Ryne!

My vote is for VIC in NOR-CAL. He needs to redeem his no show from last year.

That's too bad. Rome had Theo Epstein on yesterday.

i'm not getting excited, but maybe you should give that advice to some of the "men" that call into that show.

Well, call me a dork, but I am getting excited. If the Smack Off is anything like Wednesday's calls it's going to be great. If Vic in No-Cal doesn't show he's never going to be able to live it down, especially considering his MySpace page is dedicated to his calls.

Vic in No-Cal did not get run. Very shaky beginning. Decent close. He went Sopranos. Still has no chance of winning. Jay Mohr is about to destroy Vic.

Mohr is going to destroy Vic.....

Was it Iafrate that had the Jay Mohr smack? Seriously, why does Jay Mohr bother with the clones? He has never won the smack off, yet he keeps trying and embarrasses himself in the process.
