Car problems

Man, so much for Good Friday! I was driving home from my mom's place this morning and my Sidekick crapped out. It just died while I was driving it. Luckily, I had enough forward momentum to coast into a gas station parking lot. After I got into the lot I checked under my car. Every drop of oil was splashed all over the concrete and my engine was smoking. Funny thing is, I take good care of my vehicle. Guess that doesn't matter. I had to call a tow truck to take it to a garage. They said they wouldn't be able to get to it until Monday. I've got to cover baseball games this weekend with no sled. I had a magazine due by 2 p.m. today. It was an 11,000-word flak piece on a city in Texas. Screwing around with my vehicle cost me about two hours. I got it done somehow, but now I've realized that most of my check for that job is going to be spent on getting my bucket back into service. Grrrrrrr to cars!

Damn man that sucks. I'm so sorry about your bad luck.

I've had my share of car trouble and i can tell you it sucks and i hate it for you.

hopefully you can get it fixed without having to hand over your arm or leg to pay for it!

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. That's a shitty day, at least you're working through it though. It'll all turn around.

Sorry about your car though as well.

It's funny how things work out with cars. I have a Ford Focus Zx3 that has the hardest 70K miles on it ever. I've beat the shit out of that car, redline it constantly, taken it out in the desert, all sorts of crap. Never had an issue. Never even do regular oil changes with it. Just whenever I get around to it.

And I've had a Lexus ES, and that thing wanted to crap out with any little trouble. Oh well, I sold it and its out of my hands now, I was going to get a new car, but I'm so attached to that beat up Focus that I don't want to get rid of it. So I'll decide by next month whether I keep it or just have two cars.

does that mean you were driving without oil? a quick oil change place evidently started my car w/o the oil then put it in....my engine tapped. After a month I took it to the dealer (in 2003) and they wanted too much money to replace the engine. I got a new car but my husband eventually replaced the other car's engine.

    Good luck.

I had that happen in my old honda, The balance shaft seal broke and ripped everything else out. Hemmoraging oil all over. never quit of course... brilliant Honda goodness, though of course I continued to pour oil in it over the weekend.

CHeck and see if there are some recalls. This could definately qualify. Sorry about the trouble. i know how much that sucks.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

Muffler and the main exhaust pipe that goes all the way down the middle of the car. It was also rusted and was gonna have to be replaced soon. Also did a oil change. I took it to Midas this morning. Hey my car is payed for so this wasn't so bad. My car makes no noise now. I can creep up on people now. lol

Yikes!!! Oil is like blood... if either belongs to you and it's on the concrete... that's not good.
Did you notice the Oil Pressure, Oil Temperature or Oil Level guage on your dashboard in the RED? Did the 'check Engine' light go on (along with any other red lights) pop up? Did you check the oil level before the tow truck hauled it away? Was it empty?
Hopefully, the worst that happened was you lost your oil (for whatever reason) and your car's computer shut it down before too much damage was done. What you don't want is the oil on the ground caused by a rod cracking through the case.
Sorry to hear that. Hope it all works out.

Just found out I need a new engine, which effectively means I need a different automobile. I'm honestly considering not even getting a car. I can do plenty of writing jobs from my apartment, though I also have to travel to different towns to cover sports. I really hate cars.
