Anyone had it?

Did it work?

Any horror stories?

I'm booked in to have it on my right shoulder friday morning. To say i'm apprehensive is an understatement... :(
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

How many tattoos do you have lovely?

    I think you'll be fine ;)
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?
  • I've had it. It is completely painless. It was different than I thought. She had me hold different vials in my hand and then would tap on my arm and then I couldn't eat certain foods afterwards. And then she did the bit with the needles - which was absolutely painless. Sometimes I felt nauseous afterwards - but everything makes me nauseous :p It didn't help me with my problem - but I know other people have had great success with it. I hope it works for you!

I had several sessions that included having needles inserted into my feet, my back, arms, hands and face at differing times. The only needles that ever caused pain were the ones that were inserted near my nose on my face. (I was having sinus problems) I got used to them though and the results far outweighed any pain I felt in the facial area. After every session I was more relaxed than if I had had a massage. Short story: don't be afraid. I think over time you'll see wonderful results, be more relaxed and be glad you did it.

Let me know if you have any specific questions, I'm happy to help.

I also think the results can be directly related to the person giving the therapy. I always seek out someone who was trained in China or by the Chinese. Just my personal preference. :)

  • i had acupuncture a few years ago but sadly did not keep up with it.
i tried if for my migraines but didn't give it enough of a chance to get any real benefit
    although...
i left there feeling extremely relaxed
    yet
    extremely energized!!

don't be too anxious... it's relatively painless!!!

and give it time to work :)

my bro in law does it for his bouts with acid reflux and as part of his holistic medicine routine and loves it. Says the same thing, completely painless and feels a LOT better and relaxed after he leaves. Sis too, same thing ;)
Aah, fuck it, I’m just gonna go home, turn on the fuckin’ TV...

  • Thanks everyone, you have put my mind at ease... it's one thing the therapist saying it doesn't hurt but another from someone who's had it!

I'm having problems with my right shoulder, they think it's a problem with my spine but the muscle is too tender to do anything about the main problem at the minute, hence the acupuncture.

I'm looking forward to it in a weird way as i'm someone who'll try anything once and loves new experiences but a phobia if needles is holding me back somewhat.

I've been advised to eat before hand and told that I may feel nauseous after and to avoid certain foods... can only count towards the diet ;)

I'm just gonna try and relax and go into it with an open mind...

I'm TERRIFIED of needles - more so than anyone I know. I got acupuncture needles in my face and didn't feel a thing. I closed my eyes and couldn't even tell she had put them in. And it seemed to be helping my problem but, unfortunately, I coudln't afford to keep it up. Just relax. It'll be fine. :)
  • I had a huge phobia of needles, but had acupuncture several times. it helped tremendously!! and was totally painless... good luck!

I've had it once. Didn't do anything for me.

  • i had accupuncutre treatments several years ago to treat a persistent cough. for months and months, i was coughing, day and night.... my GP thought is might have been bronchitis, or athsma. antibiotics, inhalers, nothing worked.

after a few accupuncture treatments though, the cough disappeared!

i loved having the treatments... they were so relaxing!! especially when she put the needles all over my back, and then heated them up with an ember. the warmth would just radiate from each needle, and you could feel yourself relaxing and falling asleep!! heaven! :D

That's similar to what i'm having done, down my spine and over my right shoulder and neck. I have to say I am looking forward to it now as so many of you have said how relaxing it is.

I'm having my treatment on the NHS so payment isn't a problem and I should get a full course.

I'm keeping everything crossed as i'm in a lot of pain and i'll try anything tbh :o

I'm really hoping this can help me with my fear of needles, I've always wanted to donate blood and this could be a kick in the right direction :)
