Tommy used to work on the docks
Unions been on strike
Hes down on his luck...its tough, so tough
Gina works the diner all day
Working for her man, she brings home her pay
For love - for love

She says weve got to hold on to what weve got
cause it doesnt make a difference
If we make it or not
Weve got each other and thats a lot
For love - well give it a shot

Whooah, were half way there
Livin on a prayer
Take my hand and well make it - I swear
Livin on a prayer

Tommys got his six string in hock
Now hes holding in what he used
To make it talk - so tough, its tough
Gina dreams of running away
When she cries in the night
Tommy whispers baby its okay, someday

Weve got to hold on to what weve got
cause it doesnt make a difference
If we make it or not
Weve got each other and thats a lot
For love - well give it a shot

Whooah, were half way there
Livin on a prayer
Take my hand and well make it - I swear
Livin on a prayer

Weve got to hold on ready or not
You live for the fight when its all that youve got

Bet you're singing it now aren't you? :p

I read the lyrics through on another message board and had it stuck in my head for days... Good luck with that ;)
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

This is the best song to rock out to at weddings. I get very pumped up and start dancing like a fool!

It's also near and dear to my heart since I played it on the drums with an awesome 80s rock cover band in Rosenheim, Germany back in '97!

If I am not mistaken, isn't the video that goes along with this song the one (I know this is weird) where Jon Bon Jovi is singing barefoot and they have a tight shot on his feet? I never understood why that shot was necessary; it gives me nightmares. I like the song though.

Impressive! Do you have 'These Days'? I really dig that album, but it go no love...at least over here. I think it did well in Europe.

It's my favourite of the lot, save for Richie's Stranger In This Town. It's basically These Days, Keep The Faith and Stranger that ever really get listened to anymore, but I can still song most Bon Jovi songs word for word. :p

I really like Richie's voice...I'll have to check out Stranger in this Town. I saw Bon Jovi for the first time back in March and they didn't play any songs from These Days...I was bummed!

You should check out some clips on youtube - Richie's been singing These Days live recently. :)

And I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked a thousand miles
To fall down at your door

    I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles):The Proclaimers

When I wake up, well I know i'm gonna be,
I'm gonna be the man who wakes up next you
When I go out, yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you
If I get drunk, well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who gets drunk next to you
And if I haver, Yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door
