Just had a meeting at work and discovered that the people in my department at work plus another department are all being made redundant.

The company are 'streamlining'.... cockends.

They've very nicely 'created' 6 jobs for the 'future' of the company...there are approximately 22 of us applying for said jobs. It's gonna be a melee.

I find out for definate if I have a job or not by the 19th May... this month is gonna be hell.

FUCK.
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

    tis a scary workplace out there, eh? i've never been one to *worry* about my job, but more and more i realize that is just blissful ignorance on my part. :p yikes. none are immune from what can/may happen, in almost all fields. sad.

    Thanks guys, it means a lot :)

    I just hate not knowing whats going on and i've gotta wait a month before I know for definate. In the mean time I have to apply for jobs and go through the character destroying process of interviews...

    Ah I might feel better about it all in the morning *sips beer*

    could do with a hug though....

    there's so much redundancy going on, tis quite scary! Half of my company is up and relocating to the bogarse of nowhere down the country - they're gonna try get rid of all the old timers and keep the new ones cos their wages are lower. My job is safe for the next few years though. My bro was made redundant too after the place he worked shut down and moved to India - he had just built a new house, and had new cars and a mortgage to pay for. Even me Da is looking at possible redundancy... he's only 3 years away from pension time :( And the whole panic about Ireland hitting a major recession isn't helping anyone either!!

    It'll all work out in the end though. If ye do happen to not stay employed, it could be the kick in the arse ye need to dye yer hair rainbow colours, maybe go back to college for a while, or go travel the world etc... worry about the money when ye get back ;) hopefully it won't come to that though - I'm sure they'll realise yer awesomeness and keep ye on :)

    The reason for redundancy? Oh surprise surprise! out-sourcing to India.... bastards.

    I'm quite angry about it all today... to the point that the CEO of the company said 'morning' and I just uttered 'fuck yoursef, don't look me in the eye, twat' under my breath.... and to think, normally i'm so chipper in the mornings! :o:p

    well at least ye get what I mean *insert smiley face here* Take the time to do the things ye couldn't cos ye couldn't get the day off work or whatever. Even watch Dr. Phil in the afternoon *insert another random face of smiles here*
