my dad had his removed about 6 months ago.

it was supposed to be done keyhole surgery style but they discovered his gall bladder was badly deformed for whatever reason so they had to slice him open and remove it... he's got a massive scar... but it wasnt too bad an operation.. some hospital time and some recuperating time was required.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

I always think of gall bladder surgery as the "I need some time off from work" procedure. I know lots of people who have had it and none of them had much problem.

My mom had hers removed a few months ago too.

    She seems fine now.

  • A friend of mine had hers out years ago, and she's still fine, so I wouldn't worry too much.

I'll keep him in my thoughts though. I know how unnerving it is when your parents are involved.

    take care.

My mom has had her gall bladder removed and a hysterectomy. My dad has had both knees replaced. Yup, nerve-wracking when your parents are in the hospital but it will all be ok. Some recuperating time for him, he may not be able to eat some of the same things (my mom stays away from anything too spicy now) but he certainly won't be having gall attacks anymore!

relax and keep us posted on his recovery!
believe it or not, we don't "need" anything. that is only the spoiled brat in us trying to fill some temporary solution to an emptyness that does not exist.

Yeah- but it isn't really something you go to Dr. Summer-off for.

It's a relatively routine procedure, although not exactly "minor."
My mom's having hers out on the 29th. I know loads of people who don't have theirs.

  • Aw, good luck Colbs! (well, daddy colbs that is)
  • the pain people have before having it removed is much worse than the procedure and time after..my mom would agree.

  • best wishes to your dad!
I love to turn you on
  • He should be okay - but tell him to limit his fatty foods, because without a gallbladder it is harder to process that into waste.

good vibes to your dad and family.

it should go well, pretty standard operation now.

I passed out about 2yrs ago in major bowel pain after eating a fatty take-away, think it mighta been gall stones...from what I've read both the removal of them and the bladder are standard procedures.
  • It's scary when it's your family...but, everyone in my family has had theirs removed (there's just something about us, I guess) - the surgeons take the appendix at the same time, usually - but I hope all goes well for your dad! :)
