anyone here do it?



im heavily considering it. once i get out of high school. i want to become a firefighter and this is the best thing once i get out of high school.

    my husband's cousin joined the Coast Guard (he's been out a few years now)
    -they got shipped over to the seas off Kuwait.

    well what i mean is if you can get into the coast guard academy, you'll have free tuition (nice) and i believe you'd have a 5 year committment once you're finished. in that time, you will have traveled to many places and have one helluva ride. it's not for everyone, granted, but you may want to at least check it out and go down for a visit.

    My Brother joined when he was 20. Now he is 38 and about to retire with sweet benefits and money. Now he will get a job out of the coast guard making a boatload more.

    It's tough in the beginning he said though.
    Firefighter seems like great path too. I thought about it, but I have a bad back...

    Uh i'm in the Navy...i'm not dissing the CG but i can't stand those little bastards...unless they're rescue swimmers. They totally just copy the navy :D

    And if you're wanting to be a firefighter, look up the rate "DC" (Damage Controlmen) That's a firefighter in the navy.
