The Hubble Ultra-Deep Field
Basically every dot of light in this picture is a galaxy, each containing several hundred billion stars. The faintest of them are seen as they were about 13 billion years ago. There are over 10 000 galaxies in this image.
This image was taken by Hubble in a million second exposure looking at what is a dismally tiny patch of unremarkable, seemingly empty night sky.
Puts a few things into perspective I think.0 -

stuff like that makes my head explode... i mean that in a good way... the universe is awesome... awesome in the actual true meaning of the word.oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -

here's a video of my desktop...better than Macintosh or Windows imo...4 live desktops on a cube (can be any number really...triangle, hexagon etc... etc...) really choppy with the record app but 100% crystal smooth in real life. Pretty excellent o/s for free.
