    can you move it? there really isn't much you can do other than ice it and tape it to your middle finger

    For a sprain use the RICE treatment: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Seeing as it's only you're finger, elevation is already taken care of. Compression goes with rest in this case too. Like the other poster said, bandage it up to your other finger. Then put ice on it as often as you can. I sprained my ankle a few weeks back and this is what the doctor told me. I didn't rest it enough so it's still a little sore. Try to use it as little as possible, and it should be completely gone in a week or two. Are you right handed or left handed?

    ehh, i've played pretty much every sport with a sprained finger, i'm guessing ballfield means baseball, in which case i'd say if you can grip a bat, you're good to go, just be ready for a bit of pain if you get jammed. the advice i always got from trainers with finger sprains was usually that odds are playing isn't going to make it any worse, it might just make it take longer to heal

    Sprain...suck it up and get back out there.

    I cut off the same finger you just sprained just about a month ago, after 2 weeks I pulled the stiches out and been working with it since.

    The other thing you can do besides taping it to your other finger is taping it between popcicle sticks or something similar. The idea being to keep it safe, protected and immobilized. :)
