Anyone ever promote or put together a rather large concert/event regarding fairly large names? If so, PM me I'm trying to work on something and I would like to be prepared and fully equipped to handle this opportunity. It would be like a year from now, but I'd like to know the best way to negotiate, keep communication with the party involved, etc. etc. Advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If you've never done such an event before, I'd suggest hiring a production company or a concert promoter (even if it is a private gig), to handle everything, much like you'd hire a wedding planner or a construction contractor.

From an artist's standpoint, they will want assurance that the show will be properly executed because they don't want their reputation to suffer if the show isn't properly staged. There are so many different vendors required to put on a show, and if you don't have all of the proper contacts, you may choose the wrong one, or even worse, they will charge you a fortune.

Here is a small list of what is involved:

PA, lights, monitors, stage, caterers for the artist rider, security, insurance, fire/police permits, unions, artist transportation/accomodations, walkie-talkies, amp rental, talent buying and venue rental.

Sorry if I sound like a killjoy, but I've worked with many bands, and have seen just how much effort goes in to doing a show.
