Tonight I attended the engagement party of the only girl I have ever loved.

This sounds stupid, but it goes back to school about 6 years ago, and I started licking this girl. She was going out with the school captain at the time, and there was no way I was going to be cutting his grass.

I think it may sound strange, but to me it turned into love. We could talk for hours, and laugh for longer.

Soon after she broke up with this guy, I was reluctant 1 because I am a naturally shy person when asking girls out, and 2 I didn't want to ruin a friendship if I wasn't reading the signs well.

One night I was out at a pub and her best friend told me that this girl had a crush on me. It was like all my Christmas's had come at once. I was so happy and I went to find her.

I couldn't find her but I thought next time I will ask her out. The next time came and I gained the courage and I asked her to go for a walk. Her friend tagged along and she told me that this girl had a new boyfriend. My heart sank and I thought I would ride it out.

The guy was strangely similar to me, with a strange quirky sense of humour.


Then one night I found out she was pregnant. I then felt something I hadn't felt before, My heart was in my stomach, nit a good feeling.

And tonight was her engagement which I attended. I have been fine about this for a while, but I started thinking about what might of been, and I nearly cried.

I know I would of treated her so well, but my life and my heart is still longing for her.

And not to belittle you, but two seconds into reading it I couldn't stop laughing at your 'liking-licking' typo.

On topic that sucks. You'll have to move on, better sooner than later.

Take this as a lesson. Next time you lick or like a girl let her know how you feel about her. If you think about what's easier: her saying no I don't like you like that and you being able to move on or being in the situation that you're in now lamenting that you didn't make a move sooner.

i'll prob. catch hell for saying this, but oh well. life is way to short to think about "what ifs" i say you owe it to yourself to tell her how you feel.

who knows, she may feel the same way, and this could turn out to be the relationship you have both wanted for so long.

anyway, tell her.

if she is not into it, say sorry, but you had to get it off your chest and that you hope you can still be friends.

i would rather regret telling her this, then regret never telling her.

Take it as a lesson learned. Perhaps next time you will feel some urgency about making a play, rather than missing out on an almost-play.

I did the same thing for a few years before I learned that being safe and conservative doesn't always get you where you'd like to be in the end. There were more than a few possibilities that came to nothing, but the one that worked out has been nothing short of magnificent.

Sorry for your current 'heart in the stomach' feelings. But you're a sharp bloke. You'll move on and feel better for it.
