But amuse me, ok?

I've still not seen Lost in Translation, which is shocking to me since I'm both a film enthusiast and, as of this year, a film student :p I'm pretty indifferent to Scarlett Johansson, which seems to be a burn-at-the-stake offence for a guy but I like Bill Murray so I should watch it.

Juno is great. People that find Juno an annoying character should hang out with some people I know for a while :o You ain't seen nothing yet :) She was very realistic to me and yet the one criticism I seemed to hear, even from the most glowing reviews was that she was "overwritten and unrealistic".

As for the Matrix, highly entertaining bollocks. I'll always hate Keanu for what he did to My Own Private Idaho though.

Isn't that a movie that everyone seems to love but you hate? And therefore for a different thread? One that I would happily post in by the way. What a load of fucking shite.

    Crash.

The one with Matt Dillon, not James Spader.

Terrible, contrived, manipulative movie, yet somehow it won Best Picture.

:D Go and post it in the new thread that Trixie made for you. I'd like to vent on the subject, explaining why it is one of the shittest films ever.

  • don't understand people who don't like the LOTR trilogy, but i guess if you don't give it a chance then you can't get into it. it's too bad cuz i think they're awesome movies :)

I don't mind them, they're entertaining enough films, but then I feel the same way about the books. I don't rate them particularly highly, they're just fine.

The Return of the King was on TV tonight though and I realised they're looking dated already, CGI-wise. in 30 years people are going to look back and laugh in the same way people do now when they watch films like The Lost World with their stop-motion lizards. That's the problem with using hi-tech methods of film-making. They won't be hi-tech for long.

i know, it's ridiculous, especially since i don't particular enjoy coming around here anymore, and the number would allude otherwise....i'm home sick and bored and tired of drawing so here i am lol

yeah i didn't understand the whole bruhaha about LOTR until i finally gave in and saw the 1st one and then i turned into a flaming geek. FLAMING lol

jeremy you think the CGI in return of the king looks dated already? i think it's still holding up, to my eyes anyway. it's done well enough that it'll hold up i think for a long while.

Yeah, you don't hang like you used to. :(
Me neither, but when the people I like are here, like tonite, I enjoy it. :o

I could never stand when Legolas comes sliding down the "elephant" shooting arrows...that is bad cgi.
But I think they did an amazing job with Golum.

It was the scene with Shelob that stood out. It just looked silly. The battle scenes with the giant elephants were alright but the spider was so obviously overlayed onto the footage that it distracted from the film for me.

yeah i guess that's the thing, i don't feel i know anybody here as much anymore, save a few cool folks...like yerself...glad you guys are still around otherwise iw ouldn't even bother checking in :)

yeah that sliding thing was done badly, but it's a cool scene just for the badassedness (is that a word? lol) of it. i agree the way they did gollum was incredible, the textures and expressions and everything. some movies are overwhelmed by special effects to the detriment of the story, with the LOTR ones it only helped enhance the story.

i hated that scene simply because i can't stand spiders. EWWWWWW. yeah that part wasn't done as well as the elephant deal for sure.

Ok, how creepy in the second one (I think) when Golum is about to take samwise and bilbo through the bad forest. The look on his face?

Of course badassedness is a word.

And alot of people say they didn't like Crash or the Departed. Weird to me. But I understand I guess.
    I HATED Matt Dillon's character in Crash....dick...

sweet, badassedness is officially a word! :D

i really liked the departed, except for the *very* last minute. i wished i had left right before that minute....was sorta like having a great meal and then finding a hair at the bottom of your plate

never saw crash, i think i'm the only one in the planet who hasn't lol

hey, if Golum was about to 'take me throught the bad forest', well I think I may have a slightly concerned look about me.

Straight up tho....I enjoyed the 3 movies....I had little or no idea what was happening most of the time, but I did enjoy them.

he was *awesome* in that movie!

the shot that bothered me....i don't wanna mess it up for anybody who hasn't seen it, but it was just a quick thing at the very end...was so heavy-handed, just made me go 'bwah bwah bwaaaaaaaaah'

the worst part was the psychiatrist....not only was she annoying and not a good actor, but what was the purpose of her character?

the movie was a mess and not scorsese's best work
