Has anyone had luck finding a roommate on craigslist?

as a girl, i'm a little hesitant about the "rooms & shares (& potential rapes)" category on craigslist...but some of the listings seem legit.

any success stories? nightmares?

are the deals often too good to be true?

    my friend in Los Angeles, who moved there from New York, found his roomate/apartment that way. I've visited him twice and it seems to be fine.

    No clue as to how good or bad they are, but don't they have a female seeking female only roomate to avoid the rape factor?

    I think it works really well, yeah...about as well as it can work. I think you can get a really good idea of people by their descriptions of the living situation.

    haha just kidding. I don't know if it works well, but I have found everything else in my life off of craigslist. Its my second favorite web site!

    I have friends who have found really good roommates on craigslist. if you're really concerned about safety and whatnot as a girl just stick to females.

    My roommate is a woman who advertised on craigslist. She and I both work a lot so we rarely have to see each other, which is good.

    well, they were wonderful at the time. now it kind of hurts.
