Tomorrow's Pi Day!!
(3rd month, 14th day--3.14, get it!?!)
Time to celebrate all things circular.
Here are a couple of web sites that'll help you celebrate Pi:
http://teachpi.org/activities.htm
http://www.mathwithmrherte.com/pi_day.htm
Or you could be like me: rent the movie Pi, read your favorite chapter from Life of Pi (my students will be reading pp 32-39; the section where the father explains the dangers of Animalus Anthropomorphicus), or just go to Pie and Burger dressed like Archimedes.
How about surreptitiously changing everything that rhymes with Pi:
Lord of the Flies, becomes Lord of the Pies
The Crying Game...The Pie-ing Game
Sly Stallone is Pie Stallone
Try a Little Tenderness...Pi a Little Tenderness
That song by the Thompson Twins becomes "Pies, pies, pies, yeah!"
And, my favorite, Mark Twain's quote morphs into: "There are pies, damned pies, and then there are statistics."
I'd love to hear any suggestions from you guys: my friends, mes amis, my "pi"-sons. See? Once you start, you can't help but do it.
Good times, good times...
Then, if that weren't good enough, Saturday is the Ides of March!!!!! Watch your back.
I tell ya, March 14 and 15 is the best one-two punch since October 31-November 5 when you have Halloween, Day of the Dead, and Guy Fawkes Day right on top of each other.
Enjoy!
