I've suffered with them since college. Went to the school infimary thinking I was having a heart attack it was that bad.
Deep breathing, and helping my mind understand it was a manifestation of mental stress really helped. Staying positive and keeping the brain occupied works well for me. I took medication for a while, but for me it's just a fight to keep my reality based on my feelings, not my brain's chemicals.
I'm having one of these at least once a week at the moment. Had a doozie of an anxiety attack yesterday and only went to my evening course by the skin of my teeth...

At their worst I would get a heat sensation so intense that even standing in a t-shirt in 30 degree weather didnt help. Also accompanied by massive pins and needles in my back of even more intense heat.
You can keep them under control, it doesnt seem that way at first, but over time it can happen. For some it's therapy, some it's drugs, and for some it's both.
A lot of anxiety goes undiagnosed as people turn to sex, drugs, or alcohol.
yeah after reading all these descriptions and some other sources, I do not believe I had an anxiety attack that day. I had...something...and it was related to on-going anxiety...but I don't think it was an "anxiety attack" per se. I think I need to just get off (prescription) drugs that mess with hormones. I stopped one for good (I think). the other, I switched. and since switching I've taken 2 pills and have been crying for 2 days. ugh I just wish I could get everything to normal. I can't function like this.
