Was anyone else shocked to hear another awful top 40 station take over the 99X frequency on friday? Sucks, i could always count on them to play Pearl Jam tracks other than the usual radio plays...
that sucks. There goes the 99X big concert each year- seen some good bands in the past there

It does suck but I hated their morning show. I always listened to Dave in the morning because they didn't really have a morning show but they just announced that they are starting one next Monday. What now will I listen to? I guess I'll have to do the Sirius thing. But it does suck!
pitty. but no big loss. ipods and file sharing and payola for shit bands killed the medium years ago. they're now spinnging a recording at the dial location of the top 40 station that moved to the X that asks the listeners to call in to tell the station what format they'd like to hear. who cares.
99X has been deteriorating a long time. I get to Atlanta a few times a year and I used to be able to count on it for good tunes, but the last several trips I've noticed that they had started playing a lot of garbage (and not the band Garbage ).

I can relate to losing a favorite station. We used to have ROCK101 KLOL down here in Houston and they were Houston Rock station for 30 years! They played everything from Van halen to Zeppelin to pearl jam to Metallica. A really nice Mix of good rock. One day they announced they were leaving the air as clear channel pulled the plug. Houston was irate. What the city did was start a petition and it got lots of attention and spots on the local news stories throughout Houston. Well about 3 months later a new station called KIOL was born and hired back a bunch of the Rock djs from KLOL. Maybe if there is enough outcry and feedback in Atlanta, you guys could get something similar.
Houston has lost a few other stations but one was due to creating a Hoax (so I can understand how the stations funding and rating fell). Sorry to hear about your station. I mainly just listen to radio in the car now. Otherwise it's either discovering local bands, Myspace, Rhapsody or my Zune for my music choices.
Actually I just looked again and now KIOL is known as Jack FM now so it switched yet again. I had no idea cause it switched dials. Anyhow this station is like a radio ZUNE or ipod, they play all kinds of stuff and don't really have a format it sounds like from what I've heard on my drives.

Actually they sound like they're still going to do those as the station becomes an internet only thing.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me...
Absolutely!
I've had Sirius for little over a year and I haven't tuned back into terrestrial radio since. Satellite is the way to go.
