I get it ALOT from one certain person. It annoys the hell out of me....to the point I no longer want to talk to this person. Trust me, I understand!

what bothers me is that I seem to get it in every area of life! I have no idea why, but it's always my most immature friends that seem to want to talk to me like a I'm a child.

People tend to be condescending when they are feeling insecure. It's a tool to make them feel better about themselves. It's not you...it's them.

I get this from people on this board all the time. :p
Pretty much only one of them continues to take jabs at me. Trying to correct spelling and such. I care about my spelling here?? lol

However, I do recall you being extremely condescending to someone on here when he poured his heart out and you called him pathetic. That is what sticks in my mind about you. Calling a man pathetic because he was voicing the innermost thoughts of his heart and soul.
    That is condescending.
Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome

And GTd will be the same with 'condescension' :D

But on a more serious note, it is true that people that have a tendency to be patronising or condescending do have a bit of an inferiority complex or feels so vastly superior that anyone and everyone is inferior to them. And, unless this person is royalty, I doubt it is the case.

I know it can trouble you and it makes you fume, but the only thing to do is ignore it. Maybe easier said than done, but these people are not worth it. If you already had a word with this person (maybe she/he doesn't realise she/he comes across this way) and nothing changed, forget it.

Well said...you worded it better than I did! :D

  • Yep, I was playing a gig the other week and a lawyer mate of my brother didn't even let me get offstage before he started condescending to me, telling me how I could be more commercial if I cut out the complicated guitar playing. I said "You like Dire Straits, don't you? Fuck off." That did the trick. :D

Maybe I should read the thread before being condescending and repeating exactly what you said, completely ignoring you! :o

Well, I certainly didn't take offense! Like I said, you worded it a whole lot better than I did. (I'm not so much with the words! ;) )
