Manny reached out to touch someone...I'm glad he's not a Sock anymore, he'd always kill my Yankees
Is it just me or does anybody else watching the game hear a humming sound in the background? It's not on any other channels and it's bugging the crap out of me. I want to watch the game, but I can't take it!
"Oh yeah? Which president's on it?"
"Uh, all of them. They're having a party. Jimmy Carter's passed out on the couch."

Well, since the Yanks aren't in the playoffs, the Sox don't need him ...

Did you guys hear those boos? I thought Cubs fans were better than that. It's only the first game. Sheesh.
That humming sound is a funeral hymn emanating from the Chicago crowd...

I am a man, I am advanced.....I am the first man to borrow Stone's leather pants!
It was quiet the whoel time, with the exception of DeRosa's home run.
Even when they were leading, it was quiet.
Absolutely embarassing and unexpected.

Obviously you're a Sox fan, but I'm going to agree with you for a bit. At the beginning of the game, I was really nervous, pacing back and forth, and even after the Derosa homer, I still didn't want to get too excited. Its mostly cause of the losing tradition, so fans sit back and worry what the fuck will happen next. So while I'm super pissed that so many non die hards were at the game, I really can't blame them for not getting into a game where they sucked so badly. Its almost like they could be up 5-0 with a nohitter in tact, but 1 hit and everyone automatically assumes a loss, thanks in part to 100 years of sucking dick.
1. REAL Cubs fans are better than that. Sadly since 1998, or even 2003, there are alot of bandwagon fucks that jumped on board. These are the types that cheer the good, and boo the bad. No way I boo Dempster. He got the Cubs to where they are today. I'd rather put my head in my lap and shake my head. Now if its Howry giving up a game winning HR, thats a different story, cause he shouldn't be in that situation, so I boo.
2. Again, how many "real" Cubs fans get to go to the game. So many fucks sell their season tickets to rich assholes who go to the game cause its "in" or "cool", or all the celebrity fucks. Which real fans sit at home with a beer punching midgets.
3. Yeah its only the 1st game, but its best of 5. That means, Cubs have to win 3 of 4, two of which are in LA. Thats pretty tough. But the real issue is the Cubs history of crapping themselves in the playoffs.
If you're going to be hot, now is the time. You can be the best of the best during the season, but the playoffs are a whole new season.
It's tuff. I almost feel pity for Cubs fans after game 1. Loosing only presents an up hill battle.
Everyone on the team needs to focus, work together. Much chemistry will be needed. You can have the best players in the world and go no where.. The 2005 White Sox got lucky. It all clicked. They were a bunch of mediocre players who somehow clicked. It took many amazing plays to get where they got. It was almost a perfect playoff streak and it seemed like they were destined..
Tomorrow is a whole new game Cubs fans. If the Cubs are destined to win this year, they will have no problem pulling off a 3 game winning streak starting tomorrow.. 3 wins in a row, or 3 of 4 is not unimaginable.. It can be done. They need to stop thinking about it and just do it. Do NOT expect to win... And learn to cheer your team on at the game for christ's sakes no matter how doom and gloom it seems. YOUR GUYS NEED YOU.
