well, actually Rockland. i'm going up there Thursday morning to see a show in Cambridge (Only Living Witness reunion show) and my buddy who lives in Rockland (who i'm staying with) gave me these directions:

i'm leaving from Berks County, PA (near Reading)
78 east into the dirty Jersey (50 miles)
287 North (40 miles)
at the NY/NJ border 287N will meet with 87S, keep following signs and there will be a right exit onto it
follow signs for the Tappen Zee Bridge (10 miles)
$4 at the bridge and keep on 287 for 15 miles
95 North through CT for 1.5-2 hours through RI into MA
93 North (5 miles)
stay in middle right lane follow signs for 3 South toward Braintree/Cape Cod 8 miles
exit 14 Rockland/Hingham etc

okay, my question is is 95 the BEST way to go. might be the fastest if i hit no traffic but i'm sure it's INSANE 4 lanes. not intrested in that. what about:

after the Tappen Zee taking Saw Mill River Parkway North
684 East
84 East
90 East
95 South towards South Shore/Cape Cod into 93 North
3 South to Braintree/Cape Cod

any takers?? please.

84 East then 90 East is the Masspike which will lead you directly into Logan Airport/downtown Boston.

I'll agree. That's the best way to go to Boston. That shaves off about 40-60 minutes off your trip because 95 is so long cutting through E. Connecticut and Rhode Island.
