Could someone reccomend a hotel for the San Diego shows?

Hi there,

I bought my ticket to San Diego 2 today! haven't gotten airfare yet, but I was planning on booking a deal through travelocity.

I'm comming in from the DC area, and have never been to San Diego before. Would someone be able to reccoment a hotel preferably within walking distance to the theater?

Also, is the area pretty safe? I'll probably be making the trip by myself

I don't live there anymore, but here is a map of some hotels nearby. The Spreckles is very close to Horton Plaza. Hopefully, someone who knows more will give you more info.
Edit: The map reverted back and didn't show the closeup. :( The closest hotels listed were #'s 22,5,12,15,13,2 & 6.
