That's sitting on top of my dvd player right now. Now that I've got most of my things unpacked, I think I'll sit down and watch it this weekend. That and No Country for Old Men. I got both of them and accidently packed them while I was moving. They're were going to be my empty apartment entertainment, but now that they're unpacked I'm excited. That'll kill about 5 hours one of the days.

That's what I've heard a lot. But I still want to finish it. I watched about 45 minutes in the theater and had to leave when the person I was with became extremely sick and I was never able to make it back to finish it while it was out.

the lack of love for this movie on the board is a felony

I have never seen an actor that INTO a role. DDL literally became Daneil Plainview. There was no seperation

Greatest performance by an actor in film history.

The movie doesnt even have dialogue for the first 15 minutes and DDL is able to convey what it felt like to be Daniel Plainview before he struck it rich.

The scene where he is screaming "I abandoned my child" is one of the most intense scenes in film history. His face says it all.

    Unreal movie.

DDL is a maniac, the best living actor, and anything he does I check out.

i fucking hated this movie. great acting by ddl, but seriously, WTF?

luckily i watched no country for old men the next night and it restored my confidence in hollywoods ability to make a good movie.

Yeah that movie was amazing! I definitely thought it was better than No Country and deserved to win Best Picture. Daniel Day Lewis's performance was mindblowing and the director was equally impressive. Some of those scenes were shot in one long sequence and not cut up... for example the scene where the oil drill catches on fire.
Whoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.

I didn't like 'no country for old men.' THe ending kind of ruined the movie for me. Why did the main character go back to the desert to give that guy water? What was up with the poem ending?

There will be blood and Zodiac were my two favorite movies of 07.

Most overrated movie of 07 imo, '300'. What did everyone see in that movie?

I think the problem most people had with it was that it was almost no action/suspense.

On the other hand, it made up for that with phenomenal character development, which kept me captivated from beginning to end.

I watched this for the first time last night. It's a near-masterpiece!
Daniel Day Lewis was absolutely MAGNETIC as Daniel Plainview, it was amazing to watch his life descend into misery and see what a piece of shit he became by the end.

DDL became the character with every fibre of his body, it's something you rarely see from even the greatest actors.

The soundtrack had me on edge the whole time; even in particularly uneventful scenes the music was scary and unnerving and it really helped build this sense of dread, much like The Assassination of Jesse James did.

The ending was disturbing, but so well done.

I must've been really fucked up when I wrote that. I agree with it somewhat, but I don't remember posting it. I can't believe I didn't realize how much of a rehash of earlier posts it sounded like.

Almost a perfect movie. I do love Daniel Day Lewis but I think it's obvious that he's acting, if you know what I mean. It's too polished. Am I making any sense?

Masterpiece of a film though. DRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAINAGE!
