Mouse problem! Please help!

I've got a mouse problem, not the thing attached to my computer, the furry little four legged bastards. They're holding a disco in the loft every night, running about and chewing up the insulation. I've tried putting down the poison bait but they turned their noses up at that. I even tried mixing it with breakfast cereal and they ate the cereal and left the poison granules.

Anyone else have this problem and did you solve it.

Have you tried traditional traps & cheese instead of poison?

this scares the shit out of me. I hate mice so much. We killed a mouse with the combination of a garden leaf blower and a heavy sewing machine. True story........

Glue traps will do the trick.

Mice aren't too bad to deal with, so long as you get them before your walls are filled with shit.

I recommend the mouse trap method if poison isn't working. Then either call an exterminator or get a cat or two ;)

    the poison doesn't really work

    A bit excessive.

I think I'd better get some traps. What's the best bait? Thanks all.

It's sort of like a tape strip you hang for flies, I believe.
Not a pleasant death if you are a mouse.

LOL. :D You live in a country where there are more creatures to kill you on land or in the sea than any other country on the planet and a mouse does this to you.

Yep. And to be totally honest with you, the deadly spiders don't scare me. I don't like them, I just go and kill them I killed a funnel web last week, and last year I killed 2 funnel webs a red back and a white tail in the space of a week. I have patted a snake. But mice and rats i can't stand.

I guess it is my fear, my phobia. Some have a fear of heights or flying etc, but the mice and rats are my weakness.

If i got a rat on the loose in my house, I would move out.

I'm about to go to sleep, I'm going to have nightmares now :D

Mice are sweet little things but very destructive. Putting a trap out yourself will most probably not solve your problem if you have a number of them. You may get one or two, but the rest will not be so stupid.
Get a professional in - one who will capture them all humanely and take them away for you. If you do want to do it yourself, get a humane cage trap, bait the mouse with crunchy peanut butter, fruit or nuts (they also have a sweet tooth and love chocolate), then release the mouse outside. Once you are rid of the mice, you need to block up any holes that let them in.

Poison is evil and cruel and the mouse is most probably going to go die in a hard to reach place. A glue trap or 'snap' trap is evil and cruel too.

As a cat person, my response is to have at least one cat. We never see mice, due to 6 cats, and cats make great pets.

when i was living at my parent's, my bedroom was in the basement of their house, and i occassionally heard mice in the ceiling, and even saw one run across my carpet.

we put glue traps in the ceiling and bought this device that you plug into an electrical socket, and it emits a very high pitch sound that only animals/rodents can detect, and it drives them insane and they have no choice but to flee your house. worked like a charm! did not hear or see mice the second we plugged it in.

about a week later, my sister brought her dog over and it started flipping out, running in circles and barking it's head off. we didn't know what was wrong, but then my dad remembered that we had that device plugged in, so he pulled it out and the second he did, my sister's dog calmed down and was his normal self. no joke! check it out... you should be able to find it in your local hardware store.

    House of Mouse.

this isnt a problem... the chances of a theme park developing in your house are increased by 1 percent!
  • Get a 3 month old kitten and don't overfeed it.

Do these things really work? I saw one yesterday and wondered. Do you need more than one or can they hear this from anywhere in the house?

  • Get a cat????

Even though I'm not sure my super domesticated lazy ass cats would know what to do with a mouse. Maybe bat it around a bit. I don't think they have it in them to kill. I've created lazy bums.
