Shes 8 weeks old, black & white domestic shorthair.

Everything is going well.. except for her getting along with my other cat.

I have a 4 year old Scottish Fold, who isn't taking too well to the kitten.

Any advice on what can be done to get these 2 to be able to live together?

Thanks!

You are supposed to keep them separated for a period of time. Rub towels w/ each others scents so they get used to it. Blah, blah blah... I have never been able to do this myself therefore I have never had 2 cats that got along w/ each other. They just tolerated each other. I just got a kitten last week and so far so good. My older cat (PJ) is 3.5. As long as Chloe knows her place I think all will be fine. Best of luck to you. Maybe try Cat Fancy's website (kitty magazine) or Google perhaps.

What did you name your kitten?

Buy some tuna and rub it on both cats. They will begin sniffing each other and will like each other better.
  • Thanks for the replies..

Not sure about a name yet. By the end of the day i should settle on something.

Just be patient. They'll come around - just don't expect it to happen in 1 day or 1 week. Try to be sure they each have some separate havens, and if they kitten gets too rambunctious with the older one, move him away. Your kitten is young and he's got months of wild kitten-ness ahead of him (and you do!). Kittens are insane little things and you just accept it and enjoy how cute they are.

You could give them treats together, so they associate good things with being around each other.

edit - sorry - I re-read your first post and saw the cat is a female.

    please adopt a black cat.
  • take one cats shit and rub it on the other cat and vice-versa... one cat will think the other cat is it's shit and try to bury it... while doing so they will realize its actually a cat, have a good laugh, and build a close friendship...
  • tie a rock to each cat and throw them off a bridge. whichever one floats is the witch. keep the other one.
