All you need is the right USB cable

it acts like a external hard drive. Just make sure to put music in the music folder

Their called data cable. One end plugs into a standard usb port and the other end is small and will plug into the PSP

All you gotta do is a) have a memory stick b) have the cable...you can use the PS3 cable, I do and c) have a computer.
Once connected on the PSP, you have to select USB Connection (It's in the settings option) and it will automatically open up on your computer. Just drag your music files into the music folder (on the psp) and that's it.

You can also transfer that data to the PS3. Connect your PSP just as you do your controller, select USB Connection on your PSP and you can transfer music, vids, and all kinds of files back and forth from your PS3, PSP, and laptop.

Hmmm...mine usually pops up that "What would you like Windows to do with this..." window and it shows up in My Computer is removable media/disc.

You can pretty much do anything on it if you wanted to. It's been hacked and cracked so many times that you can go to Homebrew and put literally anything on it.
