looking for a place to live after i get married this summer....does anyone know anything about this area? friends or family?

we drove through it the other day, it seems awesome....everyone out walking around, great sense of community. then we get home and the crime rate is 175 (national average is 100)!!!

there is a housing project more inland and we are guessing that has a lot to do with it.....but i wonder if the people that live in the 'nice' area go to sleep scared and dont go out past sundown. anyone? thanks

I thought that was one of the better areas of the Bronx that was exempt from the decay of the 1970s and 1980s. I don't know much about the Bronx other than Yankee Stadium and the surrounding areas, but I'd think you'd be OK in that section.

Don't know much about the Bronx other than all the social work internships are in the Bronx and that's not a good thing.

aren't most of those in the south bronx. i know throgs neck is not considered the south bronx. but seriously to the original poster, the best way to pay a visit to the area and make your own judgment.

I was born in the Bronx....not a big fan of it. However that is one of the better areas. Still very Italian I believe. The mobsters keep the thieves out for the most part ;)

I prefer the burbs right outside of the Bronx or if you like that city feel, Brooklyn.

My advice is to go at night though. Neighborhoods look really different at night.

thats what im thinking too. but dont want to get car-jacked at a red light if its that bad after the sun goes down haha. like i said, during the day it seems like Anytown, USA. thats why i figured ask around here, maybe someone knows how it is at night.

Going during the daytime is what got me to be living in Bushwick/Bed Stuy.
