single ladies...

Do you have 'a male friend' that you can call on to move stuff and fix shit? I am pretty capable of doing things on my own, and I enjoy fixing stuff around the house but there are some things I just can't do... For instance, I need to move my tv and armoir across the room, I've been trying all night and the beast of a thing won't budge..except to almost topple over:eek:
I even tried those magic sliders, shimmied it enough to get them under it...but then it's so damn heavy it sunk em into the carpet! I can ask my Dad to do somethings, but he doesn't really live close and I feel bad calling him a lot, and I have no siblings.
So, I'm just wondering how other single ladies solve issues such as this? It's not a big deal, just a thought on my mind as I stare at this beast of a piece of furniture:)

    I hear you - I'll do most anything here, I'll climb a ladder to clean my gutters so long as I have a spotter on the foot of the ladder. But yes, there are things that I cannot do by myself and I will ask assistance. I've got an old friend I've known for 20+ years who helps me out and my neighbors are cool people too. My brother and brother in law are 15 minutes away.
    believe it or not, we don't "need" anything. that is only the spoiled brat in us trying to fill some temporary solution to an emptyness that does not exist.

    He told me he was abducted by aliens and that they removed the part of his brain where he knew the cure for cancer! Then he stayed till 4:30am untill I pretended to fall asleep to get him to leave...then he hugged me and wouldn't let go untill I pushed away. All this after he asked me if he could touch me for a 'spark'!

    Its times like this that I wish I had a brother! Or damn even a sister...I'm sure 2 ladies could eventually do it!

    I understand the armoire is a heavy object but is it empty? should make it easier. And you want to try and push below its center of gravity.

    :D Oh shit I certainly take that back lady you don't want ANY part of that in your life. Please don't invite him back for any reason at all. 4:30am that was a close call, they're way too many strange people about.

    I'm going to start a thread about something that happened here in DC last week.

    Some do...and I thought of that:) most are out of town for the holiday! (I forgot it was thanksgiving since I didn't celebrate)
