Thanks. I've survived 3 rounds of layoffs already this year, hoping to dodge one more bullet.

Tis the season. We had our Reduction in Force on Tuesday. They make layoffs sound professional here

    I have survived wave 3

I wish the best. I was in your shoes about 3 weeks ago when my agency had two rounds of lay-offs, so I know how nerve racking it can be.

Why is it that companies wait till the holidays to lay people off. Twice in my career I was layed-off just prior to the holidays. Can they possibly pick a shittier time to do it. Why not spare their employees the agony of being layed-off till after the holidays. At least my employer had lay-offs in early - mid October.

  • I just survived the 5th round. My group is 10% of the size it was a year ago.

The question now becomes, does the firm survive outright.

Good luck to you and hopefully you will be as lucky as I have been.

Thanks. From what I've read, I believe we're in the same industry (I'm a controller for a Wall St. firm), so yes, the worry about us surviving as a firm is there as well.

I guess its because everyone is trying to spruce up the year-end numbers...

Yeah, we are. I am in fixed income (or what's left of it) for a large european bank.

    Good Times

Yeah, our fixed income team is pretty much all gone.... :( Luckily, I'm on the equity side, so I've had a little leadway so far....
