    Not particularly, went to bed at 1 and woke up at 5:30.

    TPBM had to shut all the windows in the house last night as the town was spraying for mosquitos during the wee small hours. Seems they found a couple with West Nile Virus.

    Nah, she's called Molly, which we would have called our son if he'd been a girl. But yes, she is a Border Terrier, her official name is 'Ennerdale Willow' so thought about calling her Willow, but kind of like Molly.

    tpbm suggested PJ names for the puppy but was severely reprimanded

    False, I hadn't yet discovered PJ when our most recent dog came home. But the next will quite likely be named Rival, Siren, Solat or something along those lines.

    TPBM is familiar with the concept of crate training.

    Kind of, I think, been reading up lot on house training, there was cage training, I think they mentioned getting a large tray and filling it with bark - is that crate training.

    True. Crate training means the puppy is restricted to a crate (wire cage) unless under your direct supervision. The concept is that the puppy won't soil the spot they sleep in and associate with safety. The crate is never used as punishment, the puppy should only see it as their retreat. As the puppy learns control, it's allowed larger and larger spaces. So you start with the crate, then the crate and maybe part of a room, then more of the room, etc.

    My late, great black Lab was housebroken in 2 weeks with that method. We left his crate up and he used to go into it on his own until he realized the couch was far more comfy.

    My yellow Lab still took 6 months. But he tried really hard.

    My Coonhound took a full year, but she was an adult when I found her.

    And my little mixed breed took about 2-3 weeks.

    Now all three of them roam freely in one half of the house when we're out.

    Does that help?
