There's a 5 min vid on youtube of this guy draining pus and other chunks of dead toxic tissue out of his chin from a bite, it is one of most disgusting things I've ever seen on the internet...

We have these in our yard...bloody things! At least they keep to themselves. When I was bit by one, I drank tons and tons of alcohol to wash down the Benedryl...but my forearm was so huge and solid - I looked like Popeye (ag ag ag ag ag - toot! toot!)... by the end of the bender, my arm was almost normal and had stopped itching...Now I am slightly more "spider aware".

There's a ton of these things once you cross over into Eastern WA, scary little fuckers too. They'll stay to themselves, but if they get you, it's pretty nasty

That's just fuckin' bilious, couldn't watch all that shit! If it is an actual Brown Recluse bite then it probably occured whilst he was asleep, the males roam at night and around sunrise seek cover. The bite probably wouldn't wake you, but around 3hours later: Whoa, you'll know about it!

I'm staying with my mum in spain at the moment, few weeks back I unwittingly caught one(Mediterranean Recluse, slight variant but same appearance) and released it. Just thought it a standard spider, but it's behaviour seemed a little odd to me: having trapped it in a glass he seemed pretty docile, but once outside in the sunshine he spread his legs and frantically clambering up the glass in search of escape. Once I'd freed him onto gravel he was slow again.
Didn't think anymore of it/him until the next day when I noticed a white egg-sac in the ceiling corner of the garage, was actually bigger than egg-size, and was woven so tight that initially I could only pierce it slightly with the hoover on. Twas enough to realize there were zillions of lil fuck spiders inside!

Next day I found a dead adult nearby the sac-site(former sac-site, I torched them) was and established through it's markings that it was a recluse, as indeed near certainly was the horror that I let free(who now probably wants vengence for his kids!). Thing is, I haven't been able to find out much information about their nests so if anybody knows anything....

Can they let out a scent that would attract wasps?

this is FUCKED. call an exterminator man. god i hate spiders.

i saw this brown recluse vid about a year ago and it was the sickest thing i had ever seen, (we all know the two videos that have come out in the last year that beats that one though)

, dont take chances with your kids around these things. i would be freakin out if i lived in your house and a nervous wreck.

i once lived on an island in a basement suite and it rained a lot. ALL of the spiders came in to my room. i was literally on a chair in the middle of the night with my feet up off the ground, in terror...i would drink red wine to fall asleep. each morning i would wake up with a spider or two ON MY BED and around me.

it was my PERSONAL hell. the red wine spilled all the time too as i was falling asleep, the glass would tip over. i hated it there, i lasted 14 shifts at this place and came back home. im very afraid of them. i cant imagine a brown recluse.

i just gave myself the shivers .

I got curious so googled to see where they are. :) It appears that the Hobo is in the PNW while the Brown Recluse is more in the south. Both nasty though.

Man theres a reason that people are afraid of spiders. They dont just look creepy, its an instinctive reaction to be afraid of spiders.

I wonder what was going through this guys head when he had pictures taken like this? Thats got to be a scary thought knowing that it would look like that in a week.

Looked like he finally went to the hospital and those were stitches. You can see others on the wound, although it is difficult because of them blending in with the dead skin.

I saw that video a few months back. It is easily the most vile thing I've watched this year.

Don't ever let one of those spiders near you!

I can attest to the grusome brown recluse. A friend of mine was bit on the forehead about 10 years ago in Fort Myers Florida. The bloody wound looked like a shot gun blast!

    maybe, but they're exaggerated cases.

From the info I've found the fuckers are most prevalent in the southern states of the US but can spread much further for being able to survive up to 7months without food. Also, this allows them to exist in colder climates, though whether Finland, as I saw somewhere, I'm not too sure.

    "Bite Symptoms

The physical reaction to a brown recluse spider bite depends on the amount of venom injected and an individual's sensitivity to it. Some people are unaffected by a bite, whereas others experience immediate or delayed effects as the venom kills the tissues (necrosis) at the site of the bite. Many brown recluse bites cause just a little red mark that heals without event. The vast majority of brown recluse bites heal without severe scarring (http://spiders.ucr.edu/avoidbites.html).

Initially, the bite may feel like a pinprick or go unnoticed. Some may not be aware of the bite for 2 to 8 hours. Others feel a stinging sensation followed by intense pain. Infrequently, some victims experience general systemic reactions that may include restlessness, generalized itching, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, or shock. A small white blister usually initially rises at the bite site surrounded by a swollen area. The affected area enlarges and becomes red, and the tissue is hard to the touch for some time. The lesion from a brown recluse spider bite is a dry, blue-gray or blue-white, irregular sinking patch with ragged edges and surrounding redness--termed the "red, white, and blue sign." The lesion usually is 1½ inches by 2¾ inches or smaller. Characteristics of a bite are further discussed at http://www.amednews.com/free/hlsa0805.

The bite of the brown recluse spider can result in a painful, deep wound that takes a long time to heal. Fatalities are extremely rare, but bites are most dangerous to young children, the elderly, and those in poor physical condition. When there is a severe reaction to the bite, the site can erupt into a "volcano lesion" (a hole in the flesh due to damaged, gangrenous tissue). The open wound may range from the size of an adult's thumbnail to the span of a hand. The dead tissue gradually sloughs away, exposing underlying tissues. The sunken, ulcerating sore may heal slowly up to 6 to 8 weeks. Full recovery may take several months and scarring may remain. "
