A Bengal. There's a certified breeder in my area with lots of new kittens coming up. These little dudes have the most amazing coat. They have a mentality like a dog, love playing in water, going for car rides, and are very smart (and athletic). Not to mention pretty cool looking.

    Ohhhhhhhh Yeah!!! So True!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Oh! a bengal cat showed up on my mom's doorstep a few months ago. It didn't work out between Mr. Bengal (Issac) and my mom's cat she already had so she is trying to find him a home.. anyways.. Bengals are beautiful cats. Issac was the sweetest too.. Always talking.

I love cats, if it weren't for my husband putting limits on my cats, I'd be the crazy cat lady for sure!

    What's the difference then?
You mean get it from a shelter instead of a breeder?

yes, that's is what I meant; or course, you are not gonna get a bengal. That's all i was saying...adopt a poor homeless cat. :)

    Cheers

Ah yes, you'd get a regular kitty.
I got my first two from a vet 7 years ago with my roommates at the time, and my gf got hers (I picked it and didn't give her much choice, haha) from the local SPCA.
The one from the shelter looked very much like a bengal when she was tiny, but has grown into a regular (very hyper) tabby.
  • Adopting is great. I shouldn't discourage people but I got my last cat from a shelter and she just won't stay put anywhere. She moved from neighbour to neighbour when I (had her). :)

Some cats just don't adopt owners like the owner adopts the cat :P
Our neighbour's cat(s) always try to come in our apartment.

I've scoured petfinder for months now...none in my area except one adult grey. Man that site makes me sad to think about some times.

I've been wanting a more extroverted intelligent type cat for a while now. Apparently you can teach them tricks like a dog as well. I'm stuck on the fence. I know if I go to the breeders though it will be all over, and I'll walk out holding a reservation receipt. Their fur is hollow or something like that so it glistens and shines, and after a year or so the markings come out really sharp and clear, so they look even better as time goes on.

    decisions decisions...

That site says they're generally much more hypoallergenic than most cats.

Aw...dont feel badly for going to a breeder if that is what you want.

Petfinder does break my heart. I get on these kicks where I am on there everyday sometimes...so sad. But at least there are people trying to help these animals. That is where we had gotten Larry...(RIP) He had been tied to a stop sign in New Orleans...so sad. But someone rescued him and he was brought up here in a doggy caravan. :)

I found this...maybe you could look here too. :)

There is another kind of cat that you can train like that...I forget the name. They look sort of like a sphynx. <---awesome cats too.

Thanks I'll take a look. The pics of that little tyke in the tub are priceless. At one point he's sticking his face underwater to check out the drain. They are fascinated by running water. Has to do with their ancestors primarily hunting rivers in the jungle. The only catch is that some (not all) will get in and frolic in the toilet if you leave the seat up! Ahh! So it's probably due diligence to keep the toilet seat down

They say dogs are mans best friend. Maybe this cat is every womans best friend?!? hehe

How much do you think it would cost to get a pure bread?

They are amazing cats! Not sure how well it would do with my current one.
  • Okay, so that Bengal I mentioned in my post before, Issac.. he is looking for a home. My mom can't keep him because he doesn't get along with other cats. He's living in my mom's neighbor's laundry room while they try to find someone. Seems like people are interested in them here, so I wanted to put it out there. She lives in the burbs of Philadelphia. Issac has to be the only cat, he's proved that. He is the MOST affectionate cat I have ever seen. He meows a ton, and its really sweet. His fur is super thick, and has such pretty markings. He LOVES running water so much.

If anyone seriously is interested and lives in that area, PM me.

Edit: My mom says he is a Bengal mix. But he looks like a Bengal and acts like one to me.
  • my cousin had 2 of those cats. the cool. i just got rid of my 2 cats, they were burmese.
now i want a sphynx but they run over a grand to get one. ill have one soon enough.
    Just, not enough.
    I need more.
    Nothing seems to satisfy.
I said, I dont want it.
    I just need it.
To breathe, to feel, to know Im alive.

My friend had a little bengal too. It got hit by a car or maybe mauled by a Raccoon. I can't quite remember, it was a sad time.
