    care to trade govenments?

there's a reason they're doing it here in the US...it's called desparation.

just be happy your govenment is re-investing in your infrastructure (assuming they are). we're crumbling here in the US....

And you do live in a country that minds its own business and has incredible skiing. Surely important, the home of Labatt Blue. I'd forego my tax rebate anyday for those qualities.

Its to bad people couldn't just trade countries, see you want to ski, I want to live in a warm climate year round near beach, maybe we should float this concept by our respective leaders, lol.

  • Fuck the rebate, I'd be happy with getting money back in my return. I'd never want to trade governments, even with the piece of shit we have in office currently.

Budget surpluses and national healthcare. Holy crap! I can't imagine a scenario where we'd have that. Ever. Unless maybe if Nader gets elected. :)

canadian national health care isn't the greatest thing on earth. like everything else, you get trade offs, as unfortunate as it may be.

It's not so bad unless you're extremely impatient, or live in Alberta.

Move then....plus the rebate in the States is a futile effort to boost a struggling economy.....just as stupid when Ralph Klein gave a rebate to Albertans....dumb....spend the money on more police/schools/high-ways/etc....

Never had a problem at all finding one....(plus it has nothing on being in Alberta).....the one big problem with our system is that it is log jammed with people who do not need to see a doctor (minor illness, sore muscles, etc.)...if more people only went to a doctor when they actually needed to the system would not be as congested.....critical things are dealt with efficiently and in a timely manner....and that is what matters the most....well at least for me....

WTF, ten straight years of surpluses at least the government could have re invested in health, roads and schools, not hoard it like they did, or waste a billion on the gun registry.

Couldn't agree more, if people just quit going to the DR. for stupidest things, there would be no back log, that I'm afraid is the downside of national health care, of course the government could do a better job of letting people know its really not free and that if you continue to go to see the doc for a simplest things the system suffers suffers. But maybe for those of us that rarely go to the doctor could get a rebate, lol.

I guess things could be worse....at least we have the money to do something positive with....we could be pumping these billions into a proxy war for certain "friends".....

I guess we can only hope that the right minded people will determine what is best done with the cash...however a rebate check is a poor and simpleton gesture to garner a vote from less informed voters come election time.....

Trust me friend I have issues with the large surplus....HELLO GOVERNMENT...why not look at expanding medical colleges across the country so we can aleviate the doctor/nursing shortage in this country....to me this is one of MANY things that are better than a couple hundred dollar rebate check.....

Or there could be even a small, say $25.00 free for seeing a doctor for unsevere reasons...

I know some drama queens in this country would freak out but hey that could be enough of a deterant to keep "my arm aches" patient out of the hospital (uin which he is told to rest and have an Advil for the swelling) and at the same time re-invest back into health-care. Our system is great for the critial cases, needs improving on chronic cases, that is how I see it.....

    "Stuff White People Like"
#75 Threatening to Move to Canada
    February 24, 2008 by clander

Often times, white people get frustrated with the state of their country. They do not like the President, or Congress, or the health care system, or the illegal status of Marijuana. Whenever they are presented with a situation that seems unreasonable to them, their first instinct is to threaten to move to Canada.

For example, if you are watching TV with white people and there is a piece on the news about that they do not agree with, they are likely to declare “ok, that’s it, I’m moving to Canada.”

Though they will never actually move to Canada, the act of declaring that they are willing to undertake the journey is very symbolic in white culture. It shows that their dedication to their lifestyle and beliefs are so strong, that they would consider packing up their entire lives and moving to a country that is only slightly different to the one they live in now.

Within white culture, it is agreed upon that if Canada had better weather it would be a perfect place.

Being aware that this information can be used quite easily to gain the trust of white people. Whenever they say, “I’m moving to Canada,” you must immediately respond with “I have relatives in Canada.”

They will then expect you to tell them about how Canada has a perfect healthcare system, legalized everything, and no crime. Though not true, it will reassure them that they are making the right choice by saying they want to move there.

But be warned, they will reference you in future conversations and possibly call on you to settle disputes about Canadian tax rates. So use this advice only if you plan to do some basic research.

Note: Canadian white people threaten to move to Europe.

Note: Europeans are unable to threaten to move anywhere.

Funny cause I hear very few (actually personally I never heard one) Canadians threatening to move to America...where I have heard many threats like the one you are showing...not a knock towards America just something I noticed in my days (and from the AMT forum :))

Both countries have problems just depends on where you stand politically....I love my country you love yours....awesome...this thread I believe was not to be a pissing contest between neighbours.....
