like Metallica's S&M album. no idea how that would sound with PJ, would be interesting thats for sure. I wonder what songs they would do with an orchestra. I guess if they'd do it it would be with the Seattle Symphony or the Boston Pops which would be cool

That was the strange part, they didn't play much. Wilson's sang 2 songs that I wasn't that familiar with, sounded great, then AIC played 3 songs. I was shocked they never played together. It was very cool, but I always figure it will be better than it turns out.

There was other things going on, but yea 5 maybe 6, songs from the 2 bands I was there to see.

It was alot of fun, and tickets were only $45 so wasn't that pissed they didn't play longer. Was funny, half the crowd were big charity people and other half AIC & Heart fans, strange mix.

Here is a few more shots..

We almost went and I was going to be sad but if it was mostly symphony and just 5 songs then I don't feel so bad. :) Sounds like a good time though and thanks for the pics.

I agree. What if PJ got a new lead singer and a person came on here saying "This guy is awesome....Ed is so replaceable!"

This guy would get flamed all to hell. He probably would be shot if the guy replacing Ed was Scott Stapp.

Alice in Chains played a benefit at Benaroya last night for Childrens Hospital (where my wife works) with the Settle Symphony, and Northwest girls choir. Incredible show that included Ann, and Nancy Wilson of Heart, the original drummer from Santana, Michael Shrieve. (Youngest guy to play at Woodstock.) Andre Feriante, a virtuoso guitarist. Taylor Carol, 12 year old cancer survivor that came out and sang. Just an incredible event that raised money for a great place!!!!

Bullshit. Get over it. Jerry wrote most of the songs and sang on most of the songs. Layne was the face of AIC, but Jerry, Sean & Mike are AIC. Sorry to break it to you.

It was a fun show. It wasn't a Heart / AIC concert. It was a benefit show for Childrens' Hospital and Heart and AIC were 2 of the guest performers. There were other guest artists who performed. Dance, drums, didgeridoo, Seattle Symphony Orchestra, chilrens choir, etc...

Lots of money raised for a good cause.

  • The first AIC song (instrumental, with full orchestra) was Whale & Wasp. Then came Sickman(!), with full electric band and orchestra. Then I Stay Away. The last piece of the evening was an amazing take on Led Zep's Kashmir.

    Good stuff. Good cause.

Jerry did write most of the songs, but Layne was not just the "face" of Alice in Chains. Layne was the soul of the group and it's not Alice in Chains without him. All of that pain on their greatest record, one of the all-time classics of the 90s, Dirt, was Layne.

...just like Sabbath hasn't been Sabbath since Ozzy got kicked out.

P.S. - Why is it that AIC is playing shows, but when Jerry writes songs they get released on albums not by Alice In Chains, but by Jerry Cantrell?
