Had it done last Thursday and apparently I now have 20/20. Right eye gets just a bit blurry, specially when I watch too much TV or sit in front of the computer for a while. Both eyes are itchy as motherfuckers. How long will this shit last? (recovery that is).

Any of you guys had this procedure done to you? How long did it take for you to completely recover?

I had it done 18 months ago and have had 20/20 since!

The first few weeks after the procedure, lights while driving at night appeared as starbursts, but that went away.

For about 6 months after the surgery, my eyes would be extremely dry for the first 15 minutes after I woke up in the morning, but that also went away.

    good luck

    ive been considering this.
  • When I had it done, I thought for the first week that I had ruined my eyes. They were so dry and so itchy. I also couldn't really see much. Turns out my eyes just sorta reacted with all of the eye drops I had to use. As soon as I was done with the drops, my eyes healed right up and I checked in a 20/15 from then on.

What's the range of cost associated with this?

I had it done almost 18 months ago. I'm 20/20 and it's freaking great. I had dryness on and off for the first few months. Your eyes are gonna be itchy until at least the 1 month mark.

While it's troublesome now, in 6 months you'll be super happy.

Rygar: I paid around $4900 to have mine done. I saw some cheaper places, but I went with the doc I did because of experience. I thought the extra cash was worth it to see someone who was a pioneer in the field.

Mine was 4000.00. It depends on your eyes, and the type of surgery you go with. I had like steep pupils or something out there so of course I qualified for the most expensive type the offered.

    Go figure.

I had it done here in Lima (Peru), and paid $400 per eye which is cheap as (I got a discount... regular price is about $700 per eye). The good thing is that not only was it cheap, but I had the surgery done at the best place around here for those sort of things. Super qualified doctors with heaps of experience.

If you ask me, I think you should save up those $4000-$5000 bucks, buy a plane ticket to Lima, get the surgery done here and use the rest of your money for well deserved vacations :D

Just in case you're interested, here's the URL for the place where I got my surgery http://208.109.216.5/oftalmo_ing/default.htm
  • wow...i had it done back in 1999, and i had none of those issues. my eyes were never itchy! i had no starbursts or dry eyes....at all. day of the procedure my eyes were a bit blurry ofr a while and if anything..watery as all hell. by the next day, perfect and zero issues! i have 20/20 in my right eye, 20/25 in my left. the only odd side effect i've had, that was permanent is that i see color differetly out of each eye. one eye colors are warm, the other, colors are cool. now maybe simply b/c i was an art teacher and also hyper-interested in color, did i notice this. the doc said it was unusual for a lasik patient, but more common for glaucoma surgeries. obviously, i only notice it if i close and open each eye seperately...and it is only truly obvious in bright sunlight. otherwise, best 5k i've ever spent!
    Stay with me...

because I sit in front of a PC all day my work insurance covered it! So I got it 2 years ago. Healed up in about 3 days and never had any of the simptoms other that light appearing blurry at night for about 2 weeks . After that 20/20.
