    Best money I ever spent!

Me too. I always tell people it is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I had it done 9 years ago, and no problems at all. I am 34 now.

It's even better now than it was back then. Now they do all laser lasik.

I'd rather have 10 lasik surgeries done than one trip to the dentist for a cleaning, besides a very slight aching in one of my eyes for a few hours after the surgery, it was painless!

Yes i would really like to know as well. I went through glasses when i was younger, which totally sucked for sport and shit. So i got monthly lenses, but they were annoying as i couldn't really wear them like all day, so now i have nightly monthly ones so i can wear em 24/7 but sometimes they still feel uncomfortable and dry. Also sometimes a lense may fall out in my sleep :S

Here its £395 per eye, but i really dont know about any of the long term effects.. so yes please share your stories!

It STARTS at $1500 US per eye here! I might be able to see London with new eyes and still be able to afford the fish and chips!

My brother had it done a few years ago; his eye sight wasn't too bad before the surgery, but he just didn't want to deal with glasses/contacts anymore. He has had nothing but praise for the procedure and keeps telling me to get it. It cost him $4,000 (CDN) for the procedure; I would say that the price is the biggest obstacle stopping me. I mean, I know I could come up with $4,000, but I can't help but think there are a lot of other things I'd rather do with that much money than have surgery (say, follow PJ on their next summer European tour? :) ). And I don't mind wearing glasses that much (what can I say, I don't put much effort into my appearance).

I also know someone else who had laser eye surgery a few years ago (not sure if it was Lasik), and had a terrible time with dry eyes afterwards.....

I had it last summer, and it's pretty much the best thing I ever did for myself. I have 20/20 vision now, or better some days.

Aside form an occasional dry eye, there has been no issues. If you're on the fence, do it. If you can't afford it, put it on credit. It's that good! :)

well lets put it this way, its ELECTIVE eye surgery. anything that happens to someone who has ELECTIVE surgery at all, deserves what they get.

Thats why i didnt care when Kayne's mom died.

  • I had it done over a year ago and NOW I say it is the best thing I've ever done. I was going to have lasik, but after the examination, the doctor told me that they would have to take so much off my cornea that they wouldn't be able to do any "touch ups" in the future in case I needed them. He recommended PRK, which is an older type of surgery and takes much less off the cornea. He said the recovery time was "a little longer, maybe 3 days compared to 1 day for lasik and there might be a little more pain." That was the understatement of the century. Immediately after the surgery, I could see a little better, but things were still fuzzy, that evening the pain started. The next morning, my vision was worse. He said that was normal because everything had to heal. I was basically legally blind for a week, I had to have people drive me places, when I was at work, I had to change the font on my computer to about 36pt in order to see anything. It finally healed and I've had 20/20 vision since. I guess the pain and blindness was worth it in the long run because I don't have to poke myself in the eyes putting contacts in anymore.

  • I had it about 7 years ago and I love it.

I started with 20/900 in one eye and 20/950 in the other. I was legally blind, as I could not see more than 2 inches from my eyeball.

I went in on a Thursday afternoon and it took about an hour for the procedure. There was no real pain with the surgery. You watch as they slice part of your eye and flip it over which is kind of weird. Then I watched a red dot blinking as it came in to focus as the laser went off. I could smell the burnt flesh which was also weird but was not painful.

I had my mom take me home after the surgery. I could see but it was not perfect, it was a lot like swimming in a super chlorinated pool for way to long. I stayed home for the weekend and went back to work on the following Monday.

My vision after the surgery was 20/25 and 20/30, which is well within driving vision. Over the years it has started to go a little, I am currently 20/35 and 20/40.

Overall I would HIGHLY recommend it, especially for those with really poor vision. Waking up and seeing the clock, taking a shower and seeing your feet, or even going to the beach and being able to see the chicks in bikinis while swimming is well worth it!

    :D

Just make sure you do research on the doctor where you get it done at. I would even probably talk to the chamber of commerce or the medical association that regulates them. You only have one set of eyes.

My sister had it done & it has not been so great for her. She goes through about 4-5 bottles of eye drops per week because she has such a problem with dry eyes. Also she can't drive if it's a rainy night because the halos around the lights & the raindrops really mess her up.
She says if she could go back she would have just kept her lenses.

I know probably 10 people who had it & she's the only one who has had serious problems.

Thats exactly where I am at. My asked my wife, while driving home the other day, when we should start thinking about it. She said "you first". My brother just had it done and his sight was worse than mine and my mother just had both of her lenses replaced, which is just mind boggling. My dad had 5 by passes and just had his carotid artery cleaned out, so I am continually being impressed by medicine. I am just chicken shit to have my own eyes cut.
my wife had her eyes cut 5 years ago.........the best 4grand she thinks we have ever spent.

Yours eyes start to get worse when you reach 40 so you might end up getting glasses again anyway. If your young i'd say do it but if your somewhere near late 30s/40s you might want to think again.
