let me first state that i hate reality shows....if they were all taken off the air today it would bother me at all....having said that....

i love this show  second season started last week and frankly i could watch gary busey be insane all day :p he thinks he is there to "help"....he doesn't realize he is in treatment :D

at the same time the show is so sad....steven adler is fucked up....his mother kicked him out of the house at 11...she chose her boyfriend over him.....rodney king doesn't seem to wanna talk about the beatings....

i do feel weird watching though....watching people at their lowest for my entertainment is a little sleezy....at the same time i hope showing their rehab it will help people come clean or not start at all :o

  • don't feel bad - this train wreck is one of the most entertaining thing I have seen on tv in a really long time...(excluding It's Always Sunny in Phil" as that is the greatest show I have ever seen.)

it's fabulous...I like to drink wine and watch as these preening has beens destroy what little shred of a hint of dignity they may be clinging to...it's so delightful.

that being said, I hate reality shows of people that i don't know...trying very hard to get that glimmer of "reality celebrity" so that they can milk their public time for all it's worth...also, hate when people compete for nonsensical crap.

And the last "Project Runway" was so horrible, I stopped watching...I used to like the designs, but this year...none of those people should have been in the final 4...it was just horrible.

*did you watch the first season of Celeb Rehab? I LOVED watching that dude from "Taxi" totally disintegrate...for the cameras. always for the cameras.

I like it too, but not because I like laughing at people. It makes me appreciate my life and it reinforces that I never, ever want to start doing hard core drugs.

well it's great that it's an intervention of sorts, but does it need to be taped & shown before millions of people for entertainment purposes?? whoever the executive is that puts this trash on air needs a bullet. i hope one day they are a subject of something like this.

sorry, i'm just really sick of how humans treat each other sometimes. just having a vent.

The counselor who sits-in some of the sessions is Bob Forrest...he was the lead singer of "Thelonious Monster", and is a former addict.

He is a great guy....he performed at my birthday party a few years back!

I'm glad your friend can laugh at it, show's a lot of growth in his recovery :)

The executive producer is Dr. Drew Pinsky. He's actually a pretty impressive addiction specialist, and I really believe that this kind of show does some good. It's not as exploitative as people are making it out to be. My ex was an addict and I watch this show because it reinforces how far I have come in my life. It's actually a pretty well done show, in my opinion.

Intervention is another show that shows soem pretty sad situations. Some people are helped by shows like these.

aw man I've been wanting to check this season out, but it's never on when I'm watching TV. I'm hoping for a marathon re-run session some weekend day when I'm just vegging out:D
Whoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.
  • Though I usually hate reality shows as well the soon to be ex hubby and I started watching last season because we love Dr. Drew. Watching this season is pretty bitter sweet. Sweet cause I do like the show (not to sound sick, i don't like their struggle, but the fact that they want to help themselves, and Dr. Drew as I've said). And Bitter now because last time I watched the first season I had NO idea about my hubby's OWN drug addiction, and NOW watching this I know more what they are going through. Everything they say I've heard him say (Ex: it being like a friend dying when you give up the drug). Seeing them detox brings back TOO many memories of each time he detoxed and those horrible nights and days I tried all I could to help him through it, but still watched him suffer.

***this detox episode is very hard to watch, it brings it all back.
