registering for your birthday??

  • I have to go to a doctor's appointment, should I register for that???

registering for a birthday is really ridiculous - even if it is a "big" birthday! I get events where gifts are expected like weddings, anniversaries, and bridal/baby showers but a birthday???

meh, registering is a bit too "buy me this! I dont trust your taste or judgment" for me...

cutback you should get her something really random - not on the list...and claim that the item was on her list! ("I thought it was odd that you wanted the silver olive pitter, but what the heck, you only turn 50 once!")

(in their defense, the marshmallows are really good. :D

So is their 8 dollar box of stuffing. :o

Oh just buy her a gift off the registry cuttie. At least she won't be moaning the next day that she didn't get anything she liked.
Damned if you set up a registry, damned if you don't.
    Can't please everyone, right? :p

I think it is helpful. I for one, hate trying to figure out what people want. And nothing is worse than buying a gift for someone, being excited about it, and seeing the look of disappointment on their face when they open it.

I once made a handmade vase for my sister in law to match her dining room. A few months later went there to find it in the basement. That sucked.

I like the "wishlists" - it gives people the opportunity to purchase a gift w/ease and confidence.

I put one together one Christmas for my son - his bday is 5 days later and EVERYONE always asks "WHAT CAN I GET HIM???" - so much easier to give them a link ;)

i just found out that for her 50th birthday my sister has registered......at williams-sonoma....i the one hand i like it because at least i know what she wants....but it seems presumptuous of her to basically require gifts and from williams-sonoma no less.....has anyone heard of this?

Recently, I heard of little kids near here making registries for their birthday parties...

I'm not really into the idea of registering, because I feel it is presumptuous. I only did so before my wedding and before our baby was born because SO many people pressured me to...and then, everyone just gave us cash anyway...lol.

Haha, I know. I'm lucky in that most people in our families just ask me what she needs. That way we can cut down on the amount of noisy ugly plastic garbage piling up in our house. ;):D

    I Love williams-sonoma.
