  • For what he has done on the field, yes. If Giamatti was still alive I'm sure Pete would be in the hall but MLB doesn't want to go against the last request of a dead man. IMO Pete will elected into the hall the year after he dies

    never!
Betting on the game ruins the integrity of the game itself and compromises everything a sport stands for.

hell yeah, one of the greatest hitters ever! one of the hardest working player ever. he made a big mistake after his playing career but that shouldn't count against his playing days.

Don't ya think the strike in the early 90's had more to do with the downfall of MLB?

As far as Rose in the hall-For what he did on the field: YES!!!! For what he did as a manager/player: NO!!!

Like it was posted earlier-He should have apoligized a LONG time ago...

Phil freaking Rizzuto is in with his .273 lifetime average, 1588 hits and 563 RBIs.

Pete Rose is out with his .303 average, 4256 hits and 1314 RBIs.

Barry Bonds will probably never get in with his .298 average, 2935 hits, 1996 RBIs and 762 HRs.

    It's a fucking joke.

He didn't cheat.....he broke a rule. I don't even like the guy, but he should be in. On a related note, OJ is in the Football Hall of Fame.

He won three World Series without cheating! ;)

how did he cheat by the way? it was only betting after he retired!

Betting on baseball is against the rules of the game as sanctioned by the rules of the MLB. He broke them, he deals with the consequenses.

and tell him to stop setting up booths at Cooperstown he's not wanted.

  • This isn't even debatable.

    The answer is yes.

The Hall of Fame is to honor a player for his accomplishments on the field, and nobody loved the game more or played harder than Pete. What he did after the fact shouldn't change that.

Plus, there are players in the Hall that have done MUCH worse.

yes. he was a great player & the betting happened afterwards. Look at all the players who broke records while "allegedly" on steroids. That's way worse in my opinion. BTW - Pete Rose didn't bet on his own team did he? Anyway, it's his playing career that should get him in.
