    Can you swim?
The only people we should try to get even with...
    ...are those who've helped us.

Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.

    Hahahahahaha

    Where do you live?
I live in Jersey and there is a coast guard base in Cape May, 15 minutes from me. Its not like the other four armed forces.
Coast guard acts like its as big and tough but its not. LOL
    No offence.
Its a career type job. I met one guy who worked for me who was in. He left though b/c he was so board.
I guess this was not a big help huh?
You should really talk to others who are in to get some some advice.

"they don't give a shit Keith Moon is dead,
is that exactly what I thought I read?"

How I choose to feel,...Is how I am.

no offence taken. technically the coast guard is part of the armed forces but i'm sure it's the laughing stock of the armed forces. but that's ok because i don't want to, you know, die. i live in central missouri but i think Cape May is the only area where coast guard trains. oh, and yes i can swim.

MY niece joined right after high school in 2005 and went through the first six weeks of training, but had to get a medical discharge...she has severe asthma like I do and she couldn't make it any further! Poor kid, she was broken-hearted.....and she looked so cute in her uniform too....:( She's okay now, but she was really bummed.. Good luck to ya!!
And so the lion fell in love with the lamb...,"

My Brother is in the coast guard. He is going to retire in 4 years at 41 yrs old with a sweet pension. I wish I did it too - back when I was his age.

he absolutely loves it, but then again, he grew up on boats, and I wouldnt be suprised if he had grown gills at some point.

I think the experience is sooo different for everybody, but keep talking to people about it. It seems like a great job.
Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)

one of my good friends is in the coast guard. he did his training in d.c, then got transferred to monterey bay. he loves it, being able to help people in trouble and be near the ocean is right up his alley. i have several friends in the military and i've never heard them making fun of the coast guard. now, the air force, that's a different story! (j/k, if there's anyone here in the air force you know i'm joking!)

Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

i don't know. just something in me that i can't explain. i'm 25 years old and have never really done anything exciting in my life. just seems like it would be an adventure. i could be terribly wrong though. i hope not.

Its not apart of the DOD, but Dept. of Homeland Sec. Most people get them mixed up with the military.

Good luck, I did my six years in the Air Force. It was the best thing I could have done for myself at that age.

ever see the guardian? I'm not sure that's what it's like BUT I know the Irish coast guard do a fucking amazing job... IMO one of the most selfless jobs there are out there :o . Forget about the cops, the coast guard put their lives on the line for other people all the time. Obviously with Ireland being an island, there's a lot of fishing goes on... and regularly boats go down! I think it's a pretty fucking heroic job me!
