Anyone seen this movie about Bob Dylan? Just watched it. I like it a lot. Cate Blanchett's great in it.

yes. i saw it in february. i thought cate blanchett was just brilliant. did you know her singing parts were provided by stephen malkmus? i thought the scenes between cate as bob and michelle williams as coco were just great. i wasnt even aware she was in the film until i actually saw her. also the scene where bob and allen ginsberg were ranting at the statue of christ on the cross was funny. heath ledger as robbie was bittersweet. overall an excellent film with some great music. todd haynes did a fab job.

  • Great flick. Was a little confused at first, but once I read more about the movie and about Dylan it all made perfect sense.

I feel bad, I had a hard time understanding it. But it was late and i was very tired. I'll try watching it again later.
I though Cate Blanchett was awsome, best dylan in the film to me.
Can anyone explain the parts with the little kid? I didnt really get the symbolism to that.

I watched this movie last night. I thought some parts were almost a parody of the much better movie "No direction home".

While I thought Cate Blanchett did quite well, I just wondered about the whole purpose of the movie.

It made Dylan seem cartoonish...instead of his sharp wit coming out in his retorts to people (which one can hear and understand in real film-footage of him) the movie just seemed to make words up. And, these words they put into his mouth were more on the side of being non-sensical or purposefully puzzling instead of keenly cutting as he can actually be. (So, in other words, I thought they lost the real idea!!)

If I hadn't read several biographies of Dylan I'm not sure I would have understood what the Richard Gere section was about.

The little boy was good in the role, but why use a little boy?

    I don't know.

I think the other movie showed his growth SO much better.
